  2. Each of use could order, say, 100 a piece. Poor ol' Microsoft.
  3. The first time I listened to the Django Mosaic, it was good but, at the same time, was too much of a good thing. There is lots of playing on string instruments... violin, two or three guitars, and a bass. The music becomes a little tiring at times, to me, because I want to hear a couple of horns, maybe a piano, or a drum. When I received my Django Mosaic, I listened to the first couple of disks, enjoyed them, then placed the box back on my shelf for about a year, still happy with my purchase. As is always the case when it comes to jazz and me, I had an odd thought that I needed to hear some Django. I don't know why, my brain just decided it needed to hear Django. I started the first disk on my stereo, the Mosaic booklet in one hand, a good beer in the other, and listened, straight through to the first five disks. I'd never really 'heard' Django before. He's an incredible player... sometimes, while listening, it's possible to forget that he's playing an acoustic guitar. Django's playing, to me, was way ahead of it's time. He was playing things, in the 1930s, that are still being played today. Stephane Grappelli is my favorite jazz violinist, however, his playing gets a little old, at times, when listening to too many of the Django Mosaic disks in a row. Sometimes I want to hear more Django and less Grappelli (not that there is any real problem with Grappelli). When reading the Mosaic booklet, listening to Django, and thinking of what was happening, in Europe, while Django was playing in Paris, provides for a very rewarding experience. The music is good, Django is, most of the time, amazing, and Addey does his usual magic with the remastering. This is a box that is fun to listen to and learn about. At the same time, while listening, don't be surprised if you find yourself craving the sound of a jazz horn, a piano, or a drum.
  4. Whew! I was thinking, I don't want to have to plan to purchase a 15 disk set.
  5. You're right. I got no car payments. I took your advice and ordered the freaking Krupa/James box. Besides, the sound clips on the Mosaic site are cool as hell.
  6. Eeek! It's the world's tallest Oompa Loompa.
  7. You know what used to creep me out? I never liked the flying-monkey things (if that's what they were) in the Wizard of Oz. As a child I would always have bad dreams after watching Oz.
  8. Or, maybe, the Krupa/James Mosaic box?
  9. I enjoy blue tits, myself.
  10. Yikes! Too many Beam & Cokes this evening.

  12. This is not an argument with Alfred. I'm kind of thinking out loud. A box that is not a must have could still be a box that's fun to have. I purchased the Kenton Presents box. I don't believe it's a must have but I'm still glad I have it. I've enjoyed the hell out of the Kenton Presents on certain ocassions. But, how much 'fun' and 'enjoyment' are contained within the Krupa/James box? I'm still trying to decide whether to pass or not. I know nearly nothing about Harry James or Gene Krupa. I believe there are better Mosaic sets at the same price as the Krupa/James box. On the other hand, I'd hate to miss a Mosaic set that I would enjoy. I enjoy learning about, reading about, and listening to the music even if it's not a must have. Fek.
  13. I don't know anything about playing the saxophone. However, I know what various saxophone players sound like. I don't know if Henderson was innovative. However, I can usually recognize Henderson's playing. There's no doubt it's Joe. To my ears, Henderson has a sort of 'grinding' sound when he's playing quick notes. Nobody else sounds quite the same. To me, any player who has an easy-to-recognize style where you can say, after hearing only a couple of notes, "Yeah, that's Joe Henderson allright!" is innovative in some way. Unfortunately, I can say the same about Kenny G(orelick). Like him or not, I can easily recognize his big-end-out-first, turd shaped notes. Is the G-Boy innnovative?
  14. I knew I didn't want the Illinois Jaquet box. I've never, ever, wished I'd purchased the Jaquet box. The Krupa/James, however, might be something worth having. But, do I need seven disks worth of the material? Damn.
  15. The Complete Capitol Recordings of the Gene Krupa and Harry James Orchestras added to the Last Chance page. Is this one worth getting? >Complete Capitol Recordings of Krupa/James Mosaic<
  16. I was visiting the father of a friend in Denver last February. The Denver resident was angry (more like, really pissed off) that there are water restrictions in Denver but not in Arizona. He says it's not right that the water used in Arizona is FROM Colorado. That, the people in Colorado are water-restricted but the people in Arizona are not. I asked him, "Do you know why there are no water restrictions in Arizona?" He responded, "Why?" I said, "Because we don't put up with shit like that in Arizona." The guy wanted to punch me.
  17. link One of the key differences is that car-wash wax is formulated to work on glass, chrome and rubber, as well as the painted plastic and metal surfaces of the car.
  18. Some things you just gotta have.
  19. Keeping a car clean is somewhat easier when you live in southern Arizona. Not much rain and no rust. If you can just keep the dust knocked off... B-)
  20. I have an eight-year-old car. I purchased the car new and have taken good care of the car. Still, eight years is eight years. While I enjoy and need to have a car, I greatly dislike making car payments. My car was paid-off eight years ago. I saved the money and wrote one check to purchase the car. At this point in time, the idea of making car payments seems absolutely repulsive to me. It cuts in to my Mosaic money. I spent $1000 on various car repairs last month. I expect the car will be good for another year. So, probably, no more payments for another year or more. I've always had a personal preference that the only person who washes my car is me. Although the car's body is still in like-new condition, my interest in washing the car has decreased as the car has aged. The paint seems kind of dull. Washing the car just hasn't been as fun anymore. I got lazy and took my car to the local car wash. My car went through the automated system. The system added a wax rinse to my car (which I believed would do nothing). However, my car is now shining like when it was new. The result of the wax mixture has me feeling like I have a new car again. Also, the car wash added a fresh scent to the interior of the car giving the car more of a new car smell versus a used car smell. A clean car seems to run better than a dirty car. And, it was fun watching my car go through the car wash. I might take the car back for another washing next weekend. I don't know, maybe I'm easily entertained.
  21. When I go running I don't stretch anything first. I do a little walking to get the blood flowing. Then I start running. No stretching required.
  22. Thanks for your input. It is helpful.
  23. I didn't 'get' this at first. But now... Maybe I'm a little slow?
  24. I just re-read the post by LAL. It looks as if I missed the point of his recommendation. LAL is recommending a different Parker box than either of the ones I listed. LAL has listed the 'complete' Complete Savoy studio box. Yes, now I understand.
