  1. Beautiful little gem .... similarly in excellence being the sort of companion album "Dr. Chi" ....
  2. Played this recently and loved it ....
  3. A few more Soul goodies for the road .... : Billy "Guitar" Davis "As I Grow Old" (A&M Records 1105) 1969 Thomas Bailey "I Need You (Most Of All)" (Stone 361) 1968 J.B. Troy "I`m Really Thankful" (Musicor MU-1210) 1966 .... super Johnny Northern song and the horns sound very much like originating south of the Mason-Dixon line ....
  4. Paul,"never made it big" is aptly described (and synonymous for a number of Southern Soul voices .... from the shadows .....) - nevertheless Clay Hammond made a number of superb 45`s for Kent which are all amassed on this excellent CD btw having here Z.Z. Hill`s 45 output for Kent is an additional bonus .... from my side highly recommended ....
  5. Speaking of treasures .... : Clay Hammond "You`ve Got Me Tamed" (Ronn R-45) 1970 .... mirroring the transition from Sam Cooke to Otis Redding ....
  6. Not yet with me, but based on the past superb Charpentier recordings by this ensemble I`m really looking forward to this new release ....
  7. As mentioned don`t listen to Soul music that often nowadays - but if getting into the groove this music offers an unbounded treasure trove ....
  8. Clay Hammond "You Don`t Have To Suffer Anymore" (Mercury 73375) 1973
  9. Circuit Des Yeux "Reaching For Indigo" (Drag City) 2017
  10. Thnx for your feedback ....
  11. For my best friend Michael H aka "blacksaint" ....
  12. Have the LP too - but the sound of the CD is astonishing ....
