  2. Not sure where you got this information, but the obituary you linked to says he appeared on hundreds of recordings in a career that spanned 70 years. Are these commercially released recordings? The Lord online discography list only five sessions for him. He's not listed in the Cook/Morton's Penguin Guide to Jazz (editions 1933, 2001 and 2006).

Gefragt nach dem Grund für dieses „Abfallprodukt“ meinte Evans, dies sei die einzige Möglichkeit gewesen, die Musik der von ihm bewunderten Künstler zu hören

  7. The German keyboarder, arranger and composer Kristian Schultze died on tuesday. Schultze has worked with Klaus Doldinger's Passport. From 1984 he worked in Los Angeles as composer, arranger and co-producer with Giorgio Moroder.   10. Raymond Fonsèque was a french trombone and tuba player. He worked with the french musicians it Claude Luter & ses Lorientais, Robert Mavounzy, Jack Diéval, Maxim Saury, Michel Attenoux and Gérard Badini, and americain musicians, playing in Paris, as Albert Nicholas, Peanuts Holland, Bill Coleman (with whom he recorded an album) and Lil Armstrong.   11. Ladislav "Ladi" Geisler (27 November, 1927, 19 November, 2011) was a Czech musician who established a high profile in the post-war German music scene. Best known for his work with German pop musicians Bert Kaempfert, James Last and Freddy Quinn, Geisler developed the distinctive “Knack-Bass” percussive bass sound that helped popularize the Bert Kaempfert Orchestra.   16. Gordon James Beck (born 16 September 1936 in Brixton, London, died 6 November 2011) was a largely self-taught jazz pianist who left a career in engineering for jazz. Gordon attended Pinner County Grammar School (the school Reg Dwight (Elton John) and Simon Le Bon would later attend). He studied piano in his youth, but decided to go into a career in technical drawing. He went back to music after spending time in Canada where he was exposed to the works of George Shearing and Dave Brubeck. On his return to England he joined Tubby Hayes group in 1962 and later formed his own trio, made up of Tony Oxley, Jeff Clyne, and himself. From 1969 to 1972 he toured with Phil Woods's European Rhythm Machine. He was a member of Nucleus during 1972-74 and after that formed the group Gyroscope. He also recorded albums with Allan Holdsworth, Henri Texier, Didier Lockwood and others. RIP Gordon

Ich schrieb damals: Eclipse und Weird Nightmare bereiten die Bühne für die relativ unbekannte Sängerin Lorraine Cousins. [Leonard] Feather kannte sie von ihrer Arbeit bei Serge Chaloff; sie verschwand aber offenbar bald danach aus der Jazzszene. Cousins gelingt es relativ gut, sich in die schwierigeren Kompositionen von Charles Mingus hineinzufinden. Holger

Arne "Papa" Bue Jensen (born 8 May 1930, Copenhagen, deceased 3 November 2011), known as Papa Bue, was a Danish trombonist and bandleader, chiefly associated with the Dixieland jazz revival style of which he was considered an important proponent. He founded and led the Viking Jazz Band which was active from 1956. R.I.P. Papa Bue!

  20. Christiane Legrand''' (21 August 1930 – 1 November 2011) was a French singer. Legrand was born in Paris, the daughter of film composer Raymond Legrand. She was the original lead soprano of the Swingle Singers and was the vocalist who dubbed the part of Madame Emery in Les parapluies de Cherbourg, the music for which was composed by her brother Michel Legrand. She also sang the part of Judith in his Les demoiselles de Rochefort. Christiane was the featured soprano in "Fires (Which Burn Brightly)" on the 1973 Procol Harum album Grand Hotel. Her niece Victoria Legrand is a member of the American indie rock group Beach House.
