  2. Cool may be thought of as primarily a W. Coast thing, with Contemporary, Pacific and the like, but some of my favorite Shorty Rogers sides are on RCA and Atlantic. And Miles – Blue Moods on Debut has to one of the more non-W.Coast cool school records out there. W. Coast, as Giola looks at it covers the waterfront from Kenton to Mingus & Dolphy, The lighthouse crew, Brubeck and Desmond, Chet & Mulligan, Dexter, Hampton Hawes, Giuffre, Shorty, Shelly and even Ornette iirc. So to answer your original question, no not really, but maybe sort of.

  8. Car break-ins are fairly regular on our street, God bless Meth. Our neighbor, who is a cop, said that people are now looking for id theft kinds of info, bank account, SS#ers etc... Hopefully the hastle ends at repacing a window.
  9. Good luck, I started listening to my old vinyl so I could decide what to keep and what to trade-in. Well two years later I know have twice the number if records I had when I started getting rid of them. I have traded in cd's for lp's many times, it just sort of happens. As far as how something has been released, I stick with AMG. I belive the Penguin guides will also let you know. Bill

  11. For the mighty mac minority the iMic works wonderful, and I understand you PC folks can use it too. Same idea as the link provided above. on systemX Audio MIDI settings let you control input output prefs. So simple even I figured it out.

  19. What is this? Here is what I do know. Tape Mates is in someway associated with “Everest” Although the box mentions Monterey, it says nothing about dates, actually there is no listings of players or track times other than Ellington, Miles, Art Pepper and Bob Cooper and a list songs on the back??? If anyone knows where I might be able to chase down this info I would appreciate it. It also mentions Art Pepper, although in an interview with Les Tomkins in 1981 he states, “I’ve never done the Monterey Jazz Festival” It will be a couple weeks till I can get to a reel to reel machine but my guess is that this is a cheapo compilation, with cuts from here there and every where. Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Thanks, Bill

I just finally found a clean / reasonably priced copy of Nighthawks on vinyl last friday. That lp has been on my short list for the last 5 years. The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me) was last song played at our wedding. That man could read my phone bill and I would pay to hear it.
