1. I use an electric, thank you, and my lawn is the size of a postage stamp. It takes me about 15 minutes to mow the whole thing.
2. I'm glad to see this finally happening: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006603290456 Ethanol seems to be the smartest way to begin the transistion from oil to non-fossil fuel energy sources. I would gladly buy an ethanol compatable minivan if I could get fuel for it, but the stations just don't exist.
3. FWIW, this is what I drive to gigs: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/15434.shtml Right in the middle of the spectrum as far as greenhouse emissions. Not bad. Most of my driving is highway driving, too, where I get the best mpg. That makes me feel a bit better.
4. Notice they never talk about the fuel efficiency. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...UTO03/603290308 Maybe it's because of this (2006 model): http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/22473.shtml Wake up, GM. Oh, and I just lost a lot of respect for Adrian Brody, too.
5. CDU (surprisingly) has the Nathan Davis for a pretty decent price: Nathan Davis - Happy Girl
6. Good Piston win last night after a crappy loss to the Nets. They were competitive from the word go, which is what they need to do more often. It seems like sometimes (often times) they come out of the gate bored and then get down early and have to claw back. Last night, they were unstoppable. Billups is downright coldblooded. Even when he's getting mauled (that no-call foul by Dirk, where you could actually hear him slapping Billups arm on TV, over the crowd... wtf?), he just keeps his cool and plays. Stackhouse was scary last night. I was bummed when Detroit traded him, but obviously Rip has worked out very well. Rip only had 14 points out there, but he had some key three-pointers when Detroit needed them. Good game! It would be fun to see the Mavericks in the Finals instead of San Antonio.
7. Them's fightin' words, bub! Trader Joes is one of the best grocery store chains on the planet, and I miss 'em something fierce down here... I've never been to one (I think the nearest one is in the Detroit area, but I could be wrong)... I just keep hearing about them and how great they are and it makes me think that they'll soon take over the world, like Sam's Club or something, and drive all the local guys out of business.
8. Is Trader Joe's the new Wal-Mart?
9. I won't even go into my homemade pickle story. Suffice to say when I was young, we spent an entire summer helping my mom pickle and after all that work, they were the worst things I had ever eaten. I'm sure my brother remembers the Pickle Pile!
10. The stork spokesbird for Vlasic always reminds me of the drunk stork on those Luny Toons cartoons.
11. I did. I didn't see any thread with the word "pickles" in the title.
12. Crap. I'll make a new poll and thread. Yeah, I'm not sure why, when one clicks on "Today's Active Topics" all these Bible ads show up. I've emailed Google about it. I did one for "Organissimo at Yahoo! music!" which was cool.
13. I can't believe there is not a thread about pickles on here, so here it is! I just bought some of these at the supermarket: http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?s=prod...duct=4470009192 I'm sure someone will chime in and say, "Claussen? Ewwww... you need to try this esoteric brand that you can only get in New Zealand," or something, but hey... these things are damn good. I love dill pickles, pretty much any kind. Even the el cheapo nasty ones that they used to serve at elementary school. I used to hate sweet pickles when I was a kid, but now I love them! PICKLES!
14. New poll added: Please change your skin to "org test" and scroll to the bottom of any page. You should see an ad or ads from Google. Does that bother you? Please vote in the poll. It's another way to support the site and I tried to put it in a rather inconspicuous place, but I'm not a fan of ads, per se. These seem to be very low-key, however. Be honest.
15. Ok, I've got someone working on the code, for a small fee. He won't have anything for me until Monday due to a busy schedule, but that gives us time to get other affiliate programs going. So far, I've signed up for CD Universe and Amazon.com. Someone asked for Amazon.de and I have an email to Amazon to determine whether my associates ID will work for all the Amazon sites (like .de, .fr, .ca, etc.) or whether I have to set up separate accounts for all those (that would be a drag). EDIT: I have to sign up for all of them according to the email I just received from Amazon. I will do that. I have an email out to CDConnection, asking whether they have an affiliate program or not. Dusty Groove does not. Ditto for Mosaic. Any others you'd like to see (doesn't mean it'll happen).
16. Would this help spark some ideas? http://blazonry.com/scripting/multisearch.phps
17. Hmmm... not sure if that will work or not. The issue is to be able to search both. For instance, the current code for the CDUniverse search form looks like this: <FORM action="http://www.cduniverse.com/asp/searchparse.asp?" target="blank" method="GET"><strong>Search CDUniverse:</strong> <select name="HT_Search" size=1 style="font-family:verdana; font-size:11px"> <option selected value="Artist">Artist</option> <option value="Title">Title</option> <option value="Song">Song</option> <option value="SoundTrack">Soundtrack</option> <option value="Label">Label</option> </select> <input type="text" name="HT_Search_Info" size=15 style="font-family:verdana; font-size:11px"> <input type="image" name="GO" alt="GO" src="http://www.organissimo.org/forum/style_images/1/nav2.gif" border=0 value="Go Find It!"> <input type="hidden" name="frm" value="lk_organissimo"></form</div>
And the code for Amazon.com looks like this:
<form action="http://www.amazon.com/gp/associates/link-types/searchbox.html" method="get" name="search" target="_top"> <input type="hidden" name="tag" value="organissimoja-20" /> <input type="hidden" name="creative" value="374001" /> <input type="hidden" name="campaign" value="211041" /> <input type="hidden" name="adid" value="1VSMDF4TQQ7H8PAQ64FF"> <input type="hidden" name="mode" value="blended" /> <p>Search Amazon:</p> <div style="position:relative; width:108px;"> <input id="keyword" name="keyword" type="text" size="8" /> <input id="button" type="image" value="Go" name="Submit" src="http://rcm-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/associates/build-links/ap-search-go-btn.gif" alt="[Go]" /> </div> </form> The questions is how to combine the two so that you can choose.
18. A millionaire? I doubt it. But hopefully we can earn enough so I don't have to go begging again for donations. To get credit for a link directly in a thread to CDUniverse, you have to add the following to the end of the address: &frm=lk_organissimo For instance, if the link you wanted to add looked like this... http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6866804 ... you would add the above tag to the end to make this: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6866804&frm=lk_organissimo That way, organissimo would get credit for the link, if the person chose to buy the CD. I have applied for affiliation with yourmusic.com this morning, but so far have not gotten confirmation. When I do, I'm sure there'll be a different tag to add to addresses.
19. Yeah, Mitchell sent me a copy. Nice stuff.
20. It doesn't look like they have an affiliate program.
21. IMPORTANT: I need a suggestion or referral for a web expert/programmer. I've had some requests to also do the Amazon affiliate program (which I've already signed up for, but most people wanted CDUniverse) and I just found out that yourmusic.com has a similair program. What I would like to do is have another clickable menu in the search bar above that will let you choose between CD Universe, Amazon, and yourmusic... so people can search all three from the same bar. Does anyone know someone who can help me do this? It's a bit beyond my programming skillz. Thanks!
22. I just found out that yourmusic.com also has an affiliate program.
23. Moving this to the Musicians Forum. Hope you can get an answer there.
24. This one is pretty damn funky: Yusef Lateef's Detroit
25. Joe and I were listening to this on the way to the gig yesterday afternoon: Introducing Kenny Burrell There's some nice stuff on these discs. You can't really go wrong with Tommy Flanagan and Kenny Clarke.
