  1. It's up on Tidal for streaming. I'm also a big Waldron fan and this one is a really nice release.
  2. As always YMMV, but my box had 5 Odean Pope titles. I already had two of them, but the other three are disks I would have bought had I run across them -- that's my $30 right there. If I dig any of the other 35 cds that's just gravy. last week
  3. Mine was actually waiting when I got home from work, so I can tell you that the are fulfilling these orders.
  4. They are still selling off stock, though. You can get a big box of cds for $30 shipped, mine arrives this week.
  5. Marsh paired w/ Gary Foster. It's the tail end of the period your asking for, but it is a classic.
  6. I don't know if the criteria is they have to be Japanese artists, but Mal Waldron made some fantastic albums in Japan in the early '70s (often, though, with Japanese artists).
  7. I'd guess one is equipped with a mono cart, the other one is for stereo.
  8. Just got back from Amir ElSaffar Two Rivers w/ a maqam vocalist -- lovely stuff
  9. I like Ron Miles a lot, but I really don't think he's a good fit for this group. When I saw them live his distinctive "ease into it" style made him seem just a step too slow, for lack of a better way of describing it, to gel with this bunch. Damn good outfit, though.

    Charles Mills

Thanks for the info gents. In the novel (pub 1959) a Bird-obsessed junkie piano player gets caught up a sweep for a murderer & his alibi boils down to him claiming he wasn't involved because he spent the night listening to the new Charles Mills record over and over again, just made me a bit curious.

    Charles Mills

Anyone know anything (or even better, able to recommend anything) by Charles Mills? I ran across reference to him in a '50s pulp paperback called Epitaph for a Tramp (by David Markson before he became a "serious" novelist). Seems Mills was something of a third streamer & buddies w/ Freddy Redd. I have Lateef's The Centaur and The Phoenix w/ Mills' tunes, but curious about other stuff. Gracias. Scott
  12. $21.86 & free shipping from MovieMars https://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHN-COLTRANE-MILES-DAVIS-THE-FINAL-TOUR-THE-BOOTLEG-SERIES-VOL-6-NEW-CD/382418166033?epid=242124523&hash=item5909e62111:i:382418166033

  14. It was pretty good, but a bit heavy on speculation to move the narrative along. Unavoidable at times given the time frame, but still felt a bit excessive.
