  1. 👍 On a recent car trip: Kim Richmond R.I.P.
  2. 👍 Recording quality could have been better, but it's still good. The Herd alone tracks are really good; so too are the Getz tracks - Blue Serge and Blue Getz Blues. Speaking of Getz Now - discs 2 & 3
  3. R.I.P. I loved the enthusiasm and clarity of Dan’s liner notes. Even in later years they had the all the joy of youthful discovery. He introduced soloists like a baseball announcer introducing say, Cincy’s Big Red Machine. Dan’s love and respect for the musicians always shone forth. Such an asset to the jazz world.
  4. Prime Basie. 👍 Looks more like NYC than Copenhagen. I have that 2 LP set. Wow. That takes me back a long time. It's a good one, too. Along with "Solar Explorations." Now:
  5. This was one long concert - would have been nearly 3 hours with intermission. Good, though.
  6. 👍 I've always liked that one. Now: Here's another one. Neil Swainson is co-leader in this co-operative group.
  7. Oh yes, you're right. I completely forgot about Tranquility. I have that one. It's a superb recording. I was not aware of Redshift. I'll check for it on itunes. I have a few CD's on Addo. It was a rather obscure label that kind of got lost in the shuffle (at least, in my shuffle). Now:
  8. It's a good one. Of the three recordings under Neil's leadership, I think this one may be the best (or at least the one I most enjoyed at first listen). Not that there's anything wrong with the other two! Now: On CD. This is one of my favorite Mingus recordings. Not only the title track, but the Todo Modo music is excellent, too, in my view. And the CD includes a shorter alternate take.
