  1. I was thinking about that, too. It doesn't look like the interior of Rudy's newer studio. In fact, it doesn't even look like Rudy's living room studio. Maybe it comes from a Prestige date.
  2. I've had this recording for a few years, but only really started "listening" to it a couple of months ago. It's terrific.
  3. Cellar Live releases so many recordings, it's hard to keep up. A bunch more now on the website for release in the near future. I can't quite grasp Cory's business plan.
  4. It's not Hank? Just kidding. The shadows look kind of strange, now that I look at it more closely. It's a great album BTW, one of my favorite Mobleys (and I either own or have heard all of them, as far as I know).

  8. Agreed that the '53 Band may have been even a better collection of talent, but by '56 the band had an even greater wealth of Holman charts, which are tough to beat. Anyway, I greatly enjoy both bands.
  9. πŸ‘ Mel Lewis is wonderful on this recording. Now: I see a lot of people at various sites have given this 5 stars. I don't hear it like that at all. I like Sonny, but 3 stars maybe. πŸ‘
  10. πŸ‘Yes, I have the Shearer recording. It's wild and wooly, mostly in a good way. Not as polished as the Kenton Orchestra. Listened to this one lately. The 1956 Kenton Orchestra was a rather incredible collection of talent, never to be quite matched by any subsequent Kenton Orchestra.
