Reminded of this one from the listening thread. Arguably still their best.

Scientifically, it may or may not be accurate, but in a practical sense, 3.5 months seems too long.

We are way behind in Canada. My wife and I (both 65) get the first shot (Pfizer) on April 22 then the second shot 105 days later. Too long.

It's excellent, for the very reason you say - many seldom played Ellington pieces with interesting arrangements. Very, very good band, and Jack Walrath is excellent. So too is drummer Jeff Brillinger. I don't know his playing (other than with Woody Herman) but he is perfect for the date, always tasteful and swinging.

True enough. Hank was the first pianist in the Thad Jones- Mel Lewis Band and his solos (studio or live with that band are marvelous). Replaced by Roland Hanna who wasn't too bad either! Now listening to this fine CD:

For sure. Good as all the drummers were that played with Dexter - Billy Higgins, Art Taylor, Tootie Heath, Eddie Gladden and all the others , it struck me as I was listening that Kenny Clarke arguably gave Dexter the very best drum support he ever had. Now:
