  1. Ciao Romualdo, thanks for your precise information
  2. I think I'm going crazy Then: Concertgebouw - Amsterdam : Johnny Coles (tp) Eric Dolphy (as,b-cl,fl) Clifford Jordan (ts) Jaki Byard (p) Charles Mingus (b) Dannie Richmond (d) Concert "Concertgebouw", Amsterdam, The Netherlands, April 10, 1964 A.T.F.W. [ATFWUSA] [ATFWYOU] (jb solo-p) Ulysee (F)AROC 50506/07, CD1001 [CD], AROC50608 Parkeriana [Ow (Dedicated to a genius)] - - So long Eric [Don't stay over there too long Eric] - - Orange was the color of her dress, then blue silk - - Sophisticated lady (jb,cm only) Ulysse (F)AROC 50608, CD1002 [CD] Meditations on a pair of wire cutters Ulysee (F)AROC 50506/07, CD1002 [CD] Fables of Faubus (parts 1 & 2) (cm,dr vcl) Ulysse (F)AROC 50608, CD1002 [CD] Note: "Fables of Faubus" issued in 2 parts. On Ulysse CD1001 [CD] "Ow" has mistakenly been separated into two bands - there's applause in the middle - so what's listed in the credits as band 2 is actually 3, etc. - Source Kevin Whitehead - Cadence Magazine. .... I have the Compact Disc AROC CD 1001 . On the cover are these titles 01-Ow (Dedicated to a genius); 02-So long Eric [Don't stay over there too long Eric]; 03-A.T.F.W.U.S.A. (A.T.F.W.Y.O.U.) 04-Orange Was The Color Of Her Dress, Then Blue Silk. On Ulysse CD1001 [CD] "Ow" has mistakenly been separated into two bands - there's applause in the middle - so what's listed in the credits as band 2 is actually 3, etc. - Source Kevin Whitehead - Cadence Magazine. If yes and the two tracks are to be joined what is the title: So Long Eric>' The compact actually contains five tracks However, I cannot understand: the second track is certainly a Parker dedication it starts with a Danny Richmond solo then offers bits from Parker's compositions, the third should be So Long Eric Are these two pieces referred to in the following note?: On Ulysse CD1001 [CD] "Ow" has mistakenly been separated into two bands - there's applause in the middle - so what's listed in the credits as band 2 is actually 3, etc. - Source Kevin Whitehead - Cadence Magazine. If yes and the two tracks are to be joined together what is the title: So Long Eric I hope I have been clear And Thank for the reply at the Jazz UP JU 307
  3. Ciao, I don't want to be wrong but Parkeriana in the Concert held in Oslo: Jazz Up JU 307 has a duration of approximately 2:29 Landascape LS2-919 has a duration of approximately 18:36 So if they are the same track, it means that Jazz Up is incomplete, otherwise Parkeriana has two versions Is this correct?
  4. Ciao thank you for your new answer, Romualdo is a fairly common name in Italy No, I did not know Lanza's book, I think it is interesting (Ps: congratulations to your friend who translated the book) Many Thaks John L
  5. Many Thanks Romualdo are you of Italian origin? Your contribution should be valuable, I will compare it in detail
  6. Ciao IP Unfortunately, I can't get this right. I have all the records concerning the two concerts held in Paris on 17-19 April (perhaps 19 is an incorrect date) and it seems to me that several tracks are different. I've been comparing them for days, I'm going crazy. Anyway I think I'm starting to understand something Thank you very much for your reply and enjoy listening to your favourite records Many Thanks many thanks
  7. Greetings to all the jazz enthusiasts on this site. I would like some information about Charles Mingus's 1964 European Toue with his quintet/sextet including Erico Dolphy. I start by asking for enlightenment about the following editions: The Salle Wagram Concert (Complete Edition) Jazz Collectors - JC 428 The Great Concert Of Eric Dolphy AMERICA RECORDS 30 AM 003/004/005 Revenge! The Legendary Paris Concerts REVENGE! RECORDS 3200 That's it: how many tracks have been released? and in the Published Discs which tracks are the same. In summary, I would like to know which tracks are to be considered and in which edition they are to be found I hope I have made myself clear I thank in advance those who would like to dedicate some time to me Luciano
  8. To Mike Fitzgerald or whoever would like to respond me BN: All my wonderful friends. Clark Terry was the last minute addition, because Don Cherry was supposed to play trumpet, he came to all the rehearsals, but *his* master - Mr. Ornette Coleman - decreed that if he appeared on that recording instead of coming to the rehearsal which he scheduled when he found out about the recording, that Mr. Cherry would no longer be wanted. So I called up Nat Hentoff and he said, "Oh, call Clark Terry and offer him double scale." So I did. Well I've been trying to find out for years if cherry played at the rehearsals for this record, BN says he attended the sessions but did he play or was he simply present? In the hope of receiving a definitive answer I greet everyone with great sympathy
  9. Many thanks for the answer, and good luck you too
  10. Dear Mrs GA Russell Looking for information about the date of the Pual Bley Quintet concert at the Hillcrest Club I found your page in Organa simo. I wanted to write to Organissimo about the same matter, but although I have been a member for several years, I cannot see where to ask questions. However, my question is: do you know of any reliable information on the date issue: 1958 (the most credited on erb) or 1959 as some claim. Needless to ask you that you accept 1958 as the recording date of the concert Cordially Luciano PS: I hope I will be able to find your answer if, as I believe, you kindly give me
  11. Many Thanks Many Thanks
  12. In an old discography I had read that Jimmy Giuffre perhaps had played together with Don Cherry. Is that possible? I think not, I don't think so, though....
  13. To be honest, I don't understand how organissimo works. I especially don't know how to ask a question, so I tried to answer to you The new edition CD: Bill Dixon Archie Shepp Quartet FINGERPOPPIN' RECORDS-117025 lists Consequences as an unreleased track. To me it sounds the same as: Bill Dixon 7-Tette / Archie Shepp And The New York Contemporary Five (2002) Savoy Jazz CDSVY-93008 I'm hoping for an answer from you JSngry or from some other organissimo user Thanks Luciano
  14. Brownie, I hope you are well. I have been discussing a lot over the past few weeks with a Don enthusiast friend about the date, location, and lineup of Le Depart. I am sure you were present at the time of the recording at Davout Studio, so I took the information you released to me at face value. My friend asks: how do you remember the exact day? (I think you may have a photo of the session with the date, as asl place I am sure it is indeed the Davout studio you wrote to me). I, on the other hand, ask you: did they play all the tracks that were published in the Japanese edition: VOLCANO CPC8-1058? Since I cannot perceive the sound of a trombone (except in one title: Un Vol De La Voiture), have you seen Fuentes playing in several tracks) Forgive me for the annoyance I am causing you and trusting in your precise reply, I greet you dearly Luciano
  15. Many thanks. I'm agree concerning a not significant contributor
  16. Good morning Chuck, A premise: I'm honest I can't quite understand the various "functions" of this site which I think is excellent. I don't know if the question I pose to Chuck will reach him and, more importantly how to see his eventual response. However, I ask it hoping that it will be read by him and other visitors to the site. I am really hoping for help from someone. The question: On Ornette Coleman's Man On The Moon EP Don Cherry plays on the two tracks or only on one, in this case only on Man On The Moon? I hope I have made myself clear and thank you in advance for any reply Luciano PS: If this is not the place to ask such a question, where and how could I have sent it?
  17. Meanwhile, I must say that I mistakenly thought that Chuck Nessa answered my question with Me 2. It was not about my request which I am making again: On the Ornette Coleman EP Mano On The Moon Do cherry plays on the two tracks? I hope someone can help me thank you
  18. Ciao Chuck, Thanks for the answer and: Does Me 2 mean that Don plays on both tracks on the EP? Greetings Luciano
  19. I don't know if I understand your question correctly. However, I'll try to answer it: Man On The Moon had two editions: one promo published by Impulse! - 45-275 the other, the only one on the market as an EP, published by Stateside - 2C 006-90,643 M see at: https://www.discogs.com/it/release/3386425-Ornette-Coleman-Man-On-The-Moon-Growing-Up Now I have a problem: Don Cherry plays in both tracks or only in Man On The Moon. In that case in Growin Up Ornette would also play trumpet. I hope I have been clear in stating my doubts and that someone can resolve them, perhaps finally Thank you Luciano Ciao Chuck, the question is: Does Don Cherry play on both tracks or only on Man On The Moon? I hope you can get some "definitive" information on this issue Take Care Luciano
