  1. thanks
  2. Thanks Mjazzg do you mean you saw the RIP at the Womad Concert in 1982, I presume!
  3. This is the line-up I had considered for the Rip RiG + Panic I'm Cold record Don Cherry tp, mel, vcl, Gareth Sager as, bcl, Alph Wait tbn, David "Flash" Wright sax, Jez Parfitt bs, Mark Springer p, Sarah Sarahandi viola, Debbie cello, Sean Oliver b, Giles Leaman perc, Bruce Smith, Steve Noble dr, Neneh Cherry, Andrea Oliver vcl Now I am no longer sure because by checking at : https://www.discogs.com/it/release/4653342-Rip-Rig-Panic-I-Am-Cold I would also like to know whether on the disc: Live At Womad 1982 held at: Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet,, July 18, 1982 in the track: You're My Kind Of Climate Don Cherry plays I have found numerous pieces of information that seem to confirm his presence but I cannot recognise him. I look forward to your help
  4. No, side on only means: Vienna & Doug'Prelude in my previos message I considered this image as proof that Don only plays in Vienna on the other hand, looking closely (not only my ears, now even my eyes deceive me, ah to be 82 years old!!) Cherry is considered to be the trumpet player in Side One which includes, erroneously, Doug's Prelude
  5. Ciao Niko, if in the attached discography cherry is not present in the solos and we do not hear it, it means that Cherry does not play in Doug's Prelude Many thanks
  6. Happy New Year, JSngry, I am addressing you (I am not a good 'navigator' in this precious site.I regret this. Anyway: I think I'm more than sure that Don Cherry on Clifford Jordan's disc in The Worl only plays, and in a fantastic way, in Vienna. Yet all the discographies I have consulted and the various editions of the disc want him pue present in Doug's Prelude (even the mosac confirms his presence) I hope that you, or whoever will read this question of mine, can solve my dilemma (' since I bought it, back in 1969, that I occasionally do such research) Happy New Year also to all members Luciano
  7. Thank you, in my folder these last two tracks (52nd street... & On green...) you indicated had disappeared. Again: listening carefully to the CD THE COMPLETE 1963 COPENHAGEN CONCERT by JAZZ LIPS JL767 I seem to have recognised, at the beginning of You Don't Know What Love Is the tune Sly Moongoose. Finally: Sly Moongoose that concluding the medley is completely unrecognisable to me (I also don't recognise You Don't Know What Love Is). I hope I have been clear and can therefore be understood, and above all still helped. I take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Luciano
  8. Someone can judge this belief of mine concerning the sequence of tracks from the concert on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss94-PVGRIg&t=1165s does not coincide and, in my opinion, it is as follows: 1) Oleo 12:38 2) Improvised Medley (Quoting The Bridge 12:57 / You Don't Know What Love Is 5:35 / Sly Moongoose 5:23) 3) Without A Song 12:50 4) I Don't Remember The Title 19:44 5) I Don't Known The Title 15:29 I hope I am not wrong, as I often do and I also think that tracks 4 & 5 are unreleased I hope in an answer

    Salve!,

Ciao, I didn't know that Denzil Best had "Bimshire" as a nickname (in slang it seems to mean Barbardos where his family came from) from which the title of the song "Bemsha Swing" originally came from, it seems. Can anyone verify this information?

    Many Thanks

    Booker Little

I would like to know two things: Who Can I Turn To? played by Miles Davis at Oriental Theatre Who Can I Turn To? played by Booker Little on the album of the same name are two tracks identical or different? If they are identical: who are the composers: for Davis are mentioned: Anthony Newley~Leslie Bricusse For Little: Alexander Lafayette Chew Wilder~William Engvick Uncredited
  12. It's pretty much the same path as mine: Armstrong, the fascination with Davis, free-jazz and Don Cherry with whom I established a friendship that lasted about 20 years. I met him at Hastveda in 73, then I, together with other friends of mine, organized as part of the Jazz evenings in Pisa several concerts. he is the musician I follow most of all (along withMingus, Dolphy, Ceicl Taylor, etc.).
  13. Well I just now finished listening to your CD, congratulations! Although it is not the genre I follow I was very pleased to breathe an air full of serenity as it shines through your music. Thank you
  14. Nice! I saw Charles only one time in Milan he was a titan!! Are you a musicians? What do you play?
  15. Thanks for your reflections on The great paris concert (3 Long Playings) was also a thrilling moment for me even though I had already discovered Dolphy in the volumes At The Five Spot Vol I & II
  16. Ciao Romualdo, thanks for your precise information
  17. I think I'm going crazy Then: Concertgebouw - Amsterdam : Johnny Coles (tp) Eric Dolphy (as,b-cl,fl) Clifford Jordan (ts) Jaki Byard (p) Charles Mingus (b) Dannie Richmond (d) Concert "Concertgebouw", Amsterdam, The Netherlands, April 10, 1964 A.T.F.W. [ATFWUSA] [ATFWYOU] (jb solo-p) Ulysee (F)AROC 50506/07, CD1001 [CD], AROC50608 Parkeriana [Ow (Dedicated to a genius)] - - So long Eric [Don't stay over there too long Eric] - - Orange was the color of her dress, then blue silk - - Sophisticated lady (jb,cm only) Ulysse (F)AROC 50608, CD1002 [CD] Meditations on a pair of wire cutters Ulysee (F)AROC 50506/07, CD1002 [CD] Fables of Faubus (parts 1 & 2) (cm,dr vcl) Ulysse (F)AROC 50608, CD1002 [CD] Note: "Fables of Faubus" issued in 2 parts. On Ulysse CD1001 [CD] "Ow" has mistakenly been separated into two bands - there's applause in the middle - so what's listed in the credits as band 2 is actually 3, etc. - Source Kevin Whitehead - Cadence Magazine. .... I have the Compact Disc AROC CD 1001 . On the cover are these titles 01-Ow (Dedicated to a genius); 02-So long Eric [Don't stay over there too long Eric]; 03-A.T.F.W.U.S.A. (A.T.F.W.Y.O.U.) 04-Orange Was The Color Of Her Dress, Then Blue Silk. On Ulysse CD1001 [CD] "Ow" has mistakenly been separated into two bands - there's applause in the middle - so what's listed in the credits as band 2 is actually 3, etc. - Source Kevin Whitehead - Cadence Magazine. If yes and the two tracks are to be joined what is the title: So Long Eric>' The compact actually contains five tracks However, I cannot understand: the second track is certainly a Parker dedication it starts with a Danny Richmond solo then offers bits from Parker's compositions, the third should be So Long Eric Are these two pieces referred to in the following note?: On Ulysse CD1001 [CD] "Ow" has mistakenly been separated into two bands - there's applause in the middle - so what's listed in the credits as band 2 is actually 3, etc. - Source Kevin Whitehead - Cadence Magazine. If yes and the two tracks are to be joined together what is the title: So Long Eric I hope I have been clear And Thank for the reply at the Jazz UP JU 307
  18. Ciao, I don't want to be wrong but Parkeriana in the Concert held in Oslo: Jazz Up JU 307 has a duration of approximately 2:29 Landascape LS2-919 has a duration of approximately 18:36 So if they are the same track, it means that Jazz Up is incomplete, otherwise Parkeriana has two versions Is this correct?
  19. Ciao thank you for your new answer, Romualdo is a fairly common name in Italy No, I did not know Lanza's book, I think it is interesting (Ps: congratulations to your friend who translated the book) Many Thaks John L
  20. Many Thanks Romualdo are you of Italian origin? Your contribution should be valuable, I will compare it in detail
  21. Ciao IP Unfortunately, I can't get this right. I have all the records concerning the two concerts held in Paris on 17-19 April (perhaps 19 is an incorrect date) and it seems to me that several tracks are different. I've been comparing them for days, I'm going crazy. Anyway I think I'm starting to understand something Thank you very much for your reply and enjoy listening to your favourite records Many Thanks many thanks
  22. Greetings to all the jazz enthusiasts on this site. I would like some information about Charles Mingus's 1964 European Toue with his quintet/sextet including Erico Dolphy. I start by asking for enlightenment about the following editions: The Salle Wagram Concert (Complete Edition) Jazz Collectors - JC 428 The Great Concert Of Eric Dolphy AMERICA RECORDS 30 AM 003/004/005 Revenge! The Legendary Paris Concerts REVENGE! RECORDS 3200 That's it: how many tracks have been released? and in the Published Discs which tracks are the same. In summary, I would like to know which tracks are to be considered and in which edition they are to be found I hope I have made myself clear I thank in advance those who would like to dedicate some time to me Luciano
  23. To Mike Fitzgerald or whoever would like to respond me BN: All my wonderful friends. Clark Terry was the last minute addition, because Don Cherry was supposed to play trumpet, he came to all the rehearsals, but *his* master - Mr. Ornette Coleman - decreed that if he appeared on that recording instead of coming to the rehearsal which he scheduled when he found out about the recording, that Mr. Cherry would no longer be wanted. So I called up Nat Hentoff and he said, "Oh, call Clark Terry and offer him double scale." So I did. Well I've been trying to find out for years if cherry played at the rehearsals for this record, BN says he attended the sessions but did he play or was he simply present? In the hope of receiving a definitive answer I greet everyone with great sympathy
  24. Many thanks for the answer, and good luck you too
