That apparent simplicity masking hidden complexity was likely a big part of his success, no? The brain, on some level, may say to itself, "Hey, this is a little different" -- but it's also familiar enough to be immediately appealing.

Good deal. Hope you enjoy. I love hearing David Friedman and Daniel Humair together. If you dig Of the Wind's Eye, you might also want to investigate Triple Hip Trip. It features the same lineup, minus Jane Ira Bloom.

It's a terrific album, IMO. Most definitely worth checking out.
