  1. That apparent simplicity masking hidden complexity was likely a big part of his success, no? The brain, on some level, may say to itself, "Hey, this is a little different" -- but it's also familiar enough to be immediately appealing.
  2. Thanks for the music. R.I.P.
  3. David -- For YouTube videos, just paste the URL in the message. No special command needed.
  4. Two classic ECM releases. NP:

  8. Good deal. Hope you enjoy. I love hearing David Friedman and Daniel Humair together. If you dig Of the Wind's Eye, you might also want to investigate Triple Hip Trip. It features the same lineup, minus Jane Ira Bloom.
  9. It's a terrific album, IMO. Most definitely worth checking out.
  10. David Friedman - Of The Wind's Eye (Enja, 1981)
  11. Now spinning: Despite the cover photo implication that Zoot's "friend" is a little dog, it's actually Bucky Pizzarelli.
  12. Moacir Santos - Carnival of The Spirits (Blue Note, 1975)
  13. Hozan Yamamoto & Masabumi Kikuchi - Silver World / Ginkai (Philips Japan, 1971)
  14. Yes! Such a great band!!! That one, The Quest on Red, Waves on Tomato (adding Joe Daley). All killer!
  15. About a month ago, I ordered some discs from CDJapan. Since some of the items were on backorder, the package only arrived today. I felt like Ralphie at the mailbox this afternoon: The only difference: My CDs are better than his secret decoder ring! First up:
  16. Now spinning: Ronnie Cuber - The Eleventh Day of Aquarius (Xanadu, 1978) A great band and a great record -- one of Cuber's best, I think.
  17. Mas Gato: ¡Me encanta la musica de Gato!
  18. Lovely cover photograph. Echoes of Vermeer.
  19. Now listening to Gato's Fenix: with "Pim style" photo
  20. John Abercrombie Quartet - Arcade (ECM, 1979)
