  2. Another album from Detroit's Tribe label/organization: Harold McKinney - Voices & Rhythms of The Creative Profile (Tribe, 1974)
  3. Now streaming this: Marcus Belgrave - Gemini II (Tribe, 1974) Earlier this AM: CD compiles both Bolivia and Under Fire. For me, a desert-island disc.
  4. Now: The Visitors - In My Youth (Muse, 1973) Earlier:
  5. Masahiko Togashi & Richie Beirach - Freedom Joy (Trial Records JP, 1998)
  6. Hawk does NOT look pleased. That's an "eat shit, MFer"-look if I ever saw it. I wish Jeff was still active on the forum.
  7. Now: You cannot go wrong with Sir Roland !!!
  8. More Carol Sloane: Carol Sloane - Something Cool (Choice, 1978) originally released on vinyl as Cottontail
  9. Now streaming via YT: Carol Sloane with Roland Hanna & George Mraz - Spring Is Here, Take 2 (LOB JP, 1977) There are some lovely remembrances of Carol Sloane, who died last month, in the March edition The New York City Jazz Record. Well worth a look. Incidentally, the same edition of the NYCJR also includes an excellent review of the new book by Dave Liebman & Richie Beirach by our forum's own @Ken Dryden.
  10. I love that Adderley date! Totally agree. It's one of Cannonball's best Riversides -- probably my favorite. Wynton Kelly lifts everyone's game.
  11. I like Perdomo's playing very much. Seeing his name in the line-up is always a plus in my mind.
  12. A double-dose of Gunter Hampel. Now: and queued up for next:
  13. Very beautiful.
  14. Etta Jones - If You Could See Me Now (Muse, 1979) and Stanley Turrentine - West Side Highway (Fantasy, 1978)
  15. More Steve Kuhn: with Steve Slagle (as, ss, fl), Harvie S (b), and Michael Smith (d)
  16. Speaking of great records . . .
  17. OJC vinyl reissue/repressing
  18. Prompted by another thread:
  19. Agree with (most of) you that Emergency is a GLORIOUS mess. However, if I were forced to pick one or the other, I would choose (turn it over) ahead of Emergency. It's the album that I pull off the shelf most often when I want to hear Lifetime. Another thought: When it comes to jazz, I'm usually not a compilation guy -- but, IMO, this one really works for all the reasons you might imagine:
