Nice collection. Is there any way I can get a dub of this?
-
I was young so I never saw them, but I've heard the albums.

The Doors were a footnote RDK. He made them more than that.

Sorry to hear he's gone...human, w/ family & friends....a too young too.

The Doors were a footnote until he wrote "the lurid 1980 Doors biography".

I told B3er I'd cut it out. Some forums actually have specific threads devoted to hijinks... We should have a "bottomless pit" thread, so we could just shoot the bull. takes all the fun out of the world!

Doors Manager Danny Sugerman Dead at 50 Thu Jan 6, 2005 08:21 PM ET By Chris Morris LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Danny Sugerman, longtime manager of the Doors and the principal caretaker of the Los Angeles band's legend, died Wednesday in West Hollywood after a long battle with cancer. He was 50. Sugerman became involved with the Doors as a teenage fan during the group's heyday in the late '60s. He worked as a go-fer for the band, and idolized flamboyant lead singer Jim Morrison. After Morrison's death in Paris in 1971, he became increasingly involved with the surviving members' career and eventually served as their manager. At his death, he was partnered with co-manager Jeff Jambol. Beyond his work on the business side, Sugerman promoted the Doors tirelessly and prolifically as a writer. With Jerry Hopkins, he co-authored the lurid 1980 Doors biography "No One Here Gets Out Alive," which became a best seller and reignited interest in the band's music. He also wrote or edited other books about Morrison and the band, including "The Doors" and "The Complete Illustrated Lyrics." Sugerman served as a technical advisor on Oliver Stone's 1991 biopic "The Doors." He also penned an autobiographical novel, "Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess," and a book about the L.A. hard rock band Guns N' Roses, "Appetite for Destruction." Sugerman is survived by his wife Fawn Hall Sugerman, and a brother and sister. Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

La Monte Young told me I should always write a press release and detailed liner notes with technical details, because if "they" don't get it - "they'll" get it wrong. So...it's good to guide "them" in the right direction.

I bought Roots and Herbs yesterday and I'd say they are similar, but the harmonic motion is reversed.

January 6, 2005 Jimi Hendrix Has Best 'Guitar Face' By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Filed at 3:23 p.m. ET NEW YORK (AP) -- Jimi Hendrix not only had the skills to become a rock legend -- he apparently had the right look as well. A recent poll found that Hendrix had the best ``guitar face'' -- the look guitarists get when trying to nail a high note or power chord. Hendrix received 24 percent of the 3,000 votes cast online by the public and a poll by some 20 celebrity judges. B.B. King captured 18 percent of the vote, followed by Angus Young of AC/DC with 16 percent. Gary Lucas, guitarist for Gods and Monsters, said he voted for Hendrix because he ``channeled all the soulful ecstasy of the universe through his hands, and this was naturally mirrored in his face.'' The poll by on-demand television service Mag Rack accompanied a contest to find the best amateur guitar face. Les Campbell of Nicholasville, Ky., was chosen the winner from more than 600 contestants. In his photo, Campbell, a sound and recording engineer, showcases a classic headbanging, Fu Manchu mustache and Elvis Presley sneer -- as well as a resemblance to Metallica frontman James Hetfield, according to several of the judges. He said his entry was from his heavy-metal playing days in the 1980s with the band Jack-in-Irons. ``Guitar face is a spur of the moment thing, something you have no awareness or control over,'' Campbell said in a statement. ``Guitar playing is ... all about energy, transferring your spirit to a hungry crowd through six strings and a wall of amps. You can't help sharing what you feel with a look, whether it's serious or maybe a little silly.'' Besides bragging rights, Campbell won a trip to New York to pick up his prize, a Les Paul ``Black Beauty'' electric guitar and case. ------ On the Net: http://www.magrack.com

Once again, Cat Shatner points the way to the future.

Use another brand? I know when I used to record in studios, we used Ampex tape. Everyone I knew used Ampex tape (which is Quantegy now). Are there any other good brands are out there? I know a lot of people are recording digitally, but there are fans of analog recording out there. I didn't know that. When I recorded at a local studio two years ago, we used Quantegy. Cat Shatner sure is looking...perkey these days.

I was at that show. I was sitting next to him and the video cam. Afterward I asked him if the people at Mandolinn Bros. knew who he was. He didn't think so.

It's Ben Wallace?

Where did Hendrix get those unison octave riffs?
