  2. December 1, 2004 Urinal Named As Most Influencial Art By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Filed at 5:06 p.m. ET LONDON (AP) -- A porcelain urinal is the most influential work of modern art, according to a survey released Wednesday. The poll of 500 arts figures ranked French surrealist Marcel Duchamp's 1917 piece ``Fountain'' -- an ordinary white, porcelain urinal -- more influential than Pablo Picasso's ``Les Demoiselles d'Avignon,'' Andy Warhol's screen prints of Marilyn Monroe and ``Guernica,'' Picasso's searing depiction of the devastation of war. Duchamp pioneered the use of everyday objects as art, an aesthetic that questioned the nature of art itself. Art expert Simon Wilson said the choice of Duchamp's urinal ``comes as a bit of a shock.'' ``But it reflects the dynamic nature of art today and the idea that the creative process that goes into a work of art is the most important thing -- the work itself can be made of anything and can take any form,'' he said. The survey was conducted by Gordon's Gin, which sponsor's Britain's leading art prize, the Turner Prize. The winner of this year's Turner Prize is due to be announced next Tuesday. -------------------------------
  3. I haven't heard this one. But I've been there, done that. Um...read my comment from yesterday. It just wasn't what I expected.

  6. What kind of things? you aren't thinking of pandering those soft, squishy, and hairy things again are you? Not if people like you are going to protest. I think 7/4 may be interested if you tell him they won't break your teeth like aluminum siding does. I'm all ears.
  7. What kind of things? Aluminum siding. Yum....Aluminum siding.

  10. I'm spinning it now. And I like it better. Still not what I expected for disc titled The Creator Has A Master Plan. I'm not too sure the master plan is standards, but Pharoah gets paid and has a calling card to get paid playing standards instead of some younger cat, so I guess it's ok.
  11. agreed!!! Footprintslive is one of the freshest and most daring discs I heard of late. Wayne at his age sure sounds younger than a whole bunch of them so-called "young lions". great album!

It just sounds like you're cranking up your post count. Not at all. I am supporting the concept of "negative jazz threads." I've always try to say something, 7/4 unlike some people around here... Check the history of my post counts and you'll see how "important" it is to me. I used to be in the top 10 for a long time. I really don't care where I rank. Conn, methinks you doth protest too much.

Ah! The old place was more like a hallway. I'll be there tonight. Manny showed me how they set up for shows. If more than 10 people show up it looks like it would get quite cozy.

Smaller??? It's 3 or 4 times bigger than the old place on E5th! That was tiny! This was my first ever visit to DMG and Other Music. Ah! The old place was more like a hallway. I'll be there tonight.
