  5. Geez, great programs, and free?!?! How does that happen, the free part? Is this a series, a festival, or what? No matter, that's the kind of thing worth leaving the house for and then not being in any hurry to get back. Sweet!
  6. Nice interview, now streaming, got mine on Roku. Good fun, happy spirits.
  7. Thanks, good Idea!
  8. Maybe. Maybe not. You got bus fare? The point is, if your phone is bugging somehow and is really slow processing the first post, you would be well within your rights to keep hitting that button until things start to move. And then, all those "send" signals go through together. If you tried another phone and/or another location you could see if that was so or not. It's happened here before, to posters using regular computers, the packets lag or something, people push that button again, same results duplicate or more posts. So if you want to eliminate the issue, there are ways to identify the variables and then test them.

  17. Just in case God's blessings leave room for mortal addendum, allow me to call attention to the Tommy Turrnetine Time date with the Max Roach band of the time (Horace Parlan's on piano). Many Tommy T originals, and all in all an excellent date that seems to have been overlooked compared to the Max, Stanley T, & Sonny Clark Time albums of the same time. Like those, I have it on an old Bainbridge CD, but unlike those, I never knew it existed until finding it, nor if it had been previously reissued on a Bainbridge LP.
  18. Heartening to see good work getting good props. Congrats, and what kinda singing are we talking about here?

  22. You mean you had another name before that one? Is the appropriate paperwork on file in the proper location(s)? Not to pry, of course.

  24. Also a crucial part of the Malaco Southern Soul-Blues renaissance of the late 70s and onward, just an incredibly prolific arranger on those records. There was a formula, definitely, and it was not a particularly difficult or broad one, but it worked not just as far as creating an immediately recognizable sound, but also in being easily replicated by local live bands playing the Chitlin' Circuit of the day. almost all of the songs on those records had horn parts as part of the sound, and I can't tell you how many $30 gigs I worked playing them (or how many times I got called to transpose them for the bands that didn't have regular horn players who could work it out by ear). Malaco put out a LOT of records there for a while, and if Harrison Calloway didn't participate in all of them, it sure seemed that he did. RIP, and good job, sir!
