  1. I don't understand why they didn't use the 1958 remake of "Little Melonae" for that Japanese compilation; http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...st&p=922118
  2. Whats the go with the Japanese compilation 1958 Miles... its suppose to be a collection of 1958 studio recordings although one of the tracks "Little Melonae" was recorded in 1955 http://www.kind-of-blue.de/seiten/disco/19...es_cscs5140.htm There was a 1958 remake of this track; http://www.kind-of-blue.de/seiten/sessions...58_04_maerz.htm which appears on an early 70s US compilation Basic Miles This Japanese compilation was originally released in the late 70s (1979?). The other tracks originally appear on the '58 Sessions (Columbia CJ 47835) and Jazz Track (Columbia CS 8978) Lps. http://www.plosin.com/milesahead/ColumbiaEquivalents.aspx I'm puzzled why they Sony (or the compilation producer) didn't use the 1958 remake. Does anyone know the history of this release? The story behind the cover art? etc.

  4. thanks etherbored for bringing my attention to this album.. from the samples, it sounds like a fine album i've placed it on my "wish list" :-) i've got 2 of his earlier ecm label releases; points of view & homecoming, both of which are of a high standard:
