  1. For me his studiorecordings of Bach's music are unemotional/mechanical, monotonous in most of his 'Bach 'recordings. I prefer his 'Goldberg Variations Live in Salzbourg' and some others. I once read that Glenn Gould was a practicing beast but in front of public he harmonized what does the trick for me. For me it is ok that some people like his 'Bach' studiorecordings some don't and we can't deny Glenn was a controversial pianist. Add: if i listen to his studiorecordings of ' Bach' i have to dose them. I can't listen to all of his 'Italian suites' at once par example. Do you recognize that ? The record or cd you've played is more balanced because of different pieces.
  2. I am going to watch the documentary. Maybe Glenn Gould has to watch to and learn how to play Bach properly. Bye the way, i have some 'music concrete' of Luc Ferrari and i love it !!!
  3. Tower records - Japan release Symphonies Nos. 21 t/m 25
  4. I actually enjoy these interpretation but overall i am not fond of his Bach studiorecordings.
  5. What a movie . . . and the music fits perfectly in.
  6. Violinconcertos nos. 1 & 4, Orchestre National de L'opera de Monte Carlo conducted by Piero Bellugi, Arthur Grumiaux on violin.
  7. Ahhh Schubert.... one of my favorites... Please remember this one (Volume 3, forget about Volume 1 & 2 maybe). One of the best classical cd's in my collection and the best schubert i've ever heard because of how constantly intriguing this interpretation (full of drama). The Duo Crommelynck (partners) both commited suicide because of break up. Absolutly stunning cd... don't look over this !
  8. So happy with his Debussy readings...
  9. Pianosonatas Nos. 28 & 32 First listen for me. Not one of the best beethovian interpretations but this could be a personal for me 'favorite' in the future. There is something in his playing i dare to call; down to earth, methodical, fresh and contemplative. For me at least it is.
