That's definitely a highlight from that album, Jim. As I said, I have always found it to be an enjoyable listen. My wife had the CD in her car player for about a solid year. The title track is one of my go to tracks when auditioning equipment.

I'm not sure I've ever heard Phil Woods. Why do folks here have a beef with him?
  3. That's an excellent point, GA. I certainly stand corrected since I made that mistake. Which is really sad considering I call them albums in every format.

Ah, OK. I didn't realize she started out as a true Jazz artist. Her debut album wasn't, which led me to a incorrect assumption.

Yeah, but I say who cares, Allen? She's talented and has an ear for pleasant and catchy tunes. Monk's phrasing was "all wrong", too. Remember? Yeah, I know. But even to this day if someone says Blue Note, what's the first thing that comes to mind? And wasn't she one of the first, or at least biggest, non Jazz artists they signed?

She is on a Jazz label, but even her first album was anything but. I found it to be an enjoyable album. But it was pretty much an Adult Contemporary affair.

"Country" music is so popular now because it really isn't Country anymore. It's basically Lite Rock with a fiddle. Alt Country kicks ass. Over-produced Nashville cheese rakes in big bucks.
  8. Actually, if you really want cutting edge, 802.11ac is where it's at.
  9. Man, do you cats have lead lined walls, or what? My router is about a foot and a half away from the farthest back corner in our house and I get strong WiFi on all three floors, and even out at the back of our property.
  10. Huh?! What brought this on? Not only did I not mention anything about Jazz, but I don't even disagree with this statement.
  11. To each there own, Master Reynolds. My thing is that I've downloaded tunes I already owned on CD to do an A->B comparison, and heard absolutely no difference. Well, as long as it was 256kbps or better. The stuff the iTunes store is currently offering, especially the Mastered For iTunes material, is as good as anything you'll get on CD. And for me, the lack of clutter is pretty refreshing.
  12. Hearing you loud and clear, Art. I used to be the exact same way. When and how I kicked that particular part of the habit without ill detox effects, I have no idea. Now I simply enjoy having my entire 1,000+ album collection at my fingertips on my iPad screen. But, I can still appreciate that old school ritual even though I don't participate in it anymore. Somewhat related, I burned a CD for my wife the other day (for her car). As I ejected it from my iMac and snapped it into its case, I suddenly felt ancient as I hadn't performed that act in what felt like decades.
  13. Having moved into a minimalist stage in my life, I really have no use for physical media at all. I haven't bought a CD in years, and those are far less tedious to deal with than LP's.
  14. The LP pretty much is extinct as it will ever be. It is a microscopic market for the few who still enjoy the format. But they'll never go away 100%.
  15. Ouija boards can be rigged. Magic 8 Ball? Not so much.
  16. I still do not get this album, but I've never heard a MoFi release that wasn't incredibly well done.
  17. If it's intermittent, then I doubt it. But move it elsewhere just to see. If it's that easy of a fix, bonus!
  18. Agreed. That's exactly what it sound like. We had a problem with our DSL and phone last year and it took multiple trips out to finally diagnose and fix it. Come to find out that after our extremely wet spring there was a a crack in one of the pipes and water got in the line and was causing it. Put in that service call, mjzee. They should be able to get to the bottom of it sooner or later.
  19. Cable internet can be very iffy since the entire neighborhood is sharing bandwidth. But you mention the problem is with your telephones? Cordless phones? Those work on radio frequency, not wi-fi. Does Comcast also supply your phone service? I would have them come out and test your line from the street. Chances are pretty good that the problems starts well before it enters your home.
  20. Jim, I have barely ever used either, but from my brief experience with each, and testimonials from several friends, iTunes Radio seems to be superior to Pandora in their playlist composition. Have you given that a try?
  21. Monoprice makes rock solid gear. If they have an adapter compatible with Mac I'd definitely go with them.
  22. Here's one supported by Mac. Gets great reviews from Mac users. http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-2048x1152-1920x1200/dp/B004MS0DIK
