  1. Paudras, not Postif, in Round Midnight. But Positif in real life, which is what I meant. Postif and Paudras were two different (real-life) people. The 'Round Midnight character was based on Francis Paudras, the commercial artist who was a writer and jazz aficionado who befriended and supported Bud Powell, among others. François Postif wrote (French-language) jazz articles for magazines. Best wishes.
  2. Thanks for the tip, JazzBo. I'll keep an eye out for that. -- Virginia
  3. Thanks for the reply and welcome, Paul. I've been reading posts of interest for a while and now emerge briefly from lurker-dom . I'm aware that the five volumes of Amazing Bud Powell have been released in RVG editions (with some previously unissued cuts added to vols. 1-2). However, as suggested by your message, I'm interested in getting the Roost recordings without having to buy the entire Complete Blue Note and Roost box in the unremastered edition to do so. (The 1947 Roost session appears available elsewhere, but not the later one.) Will keep looking for the least redundant solution... By the way, my immediate motivation is work on a book on Powell's music (historical and theoretical analysis -- not a biography). Needless to say, I'm at the front end of the project. Best wishes, Virginia
  4. Does anyone have any scuttlebutt on whether Blue Note is planning/considering an RVG edition of Bud Powell: The Complete Blue Note and Roost Recordings, dated 1994? Best wishes, Virginia A. Schaefer
