  5. In 2006, the NFL released 2-DVD sets of film footage of their teams. Some of them are now available cheap. Some include film from the 60s, which is what I am interested in. Colts (includes 1958 Championship Game) - $0.99 !!! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GYI34K/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Patriots - $5.99 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CW8020/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Cowboys - $4.88 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-History-Cowboys-Tom-McKeon/dp/B001A5ES8Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1379905625&sr=1-1&keywords=nfl+history Vikings - $5.08 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-History-Minnesota-Vikings/dp/B003M8NGPS/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1379905625&sr=1-3&keywords=nfl+history Broncos - $4.88 http://www.amazon.com/Denver-Broncos-Complete-John-Elway/dp/B000GYI34A/ref=sr_1_4?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1379905625&sr=1-4&keywords=nfl+history Redskins - $3.88 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-Washington-Redskins-Sammy-Baugh/dp/B001BSBC0M/ref=sr_1_5?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1379905625&sr=1-5&keywords=nfl+history Chargers - $4.08 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-History-San-Diego-Chargers/dp/B002AS461O/ref=pd_sim_mov_7 Eagles - $2.97 http://www.amazon.com/Philadelphia-Eagles-The-Complete-History/dp/B0002DRDIM/ref=pd_sim_mov_8 Dolphins - $4.89 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-History-Miami-Dolphins/dp/B003L7DKA6/ref=pd_sim_mov_9 Bills - $2.17 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-History-Buffalo-Bills/dp/B0026OE2OS/ref=pd_sim_mov_10 Chiefs - $3.88 http://www.amazon.com/NFL-History-Kansas-City-Chiefs/dp/B000PY52E0/ref=pd_sim_mov_12
  6. Thanks Moose! I was waiting for someone to say what I think. To me, sticking around to earn a diploma is a matter of finishing what you started. I think people like to see that in others.
  7. John, I imagine that most teams will protect their young quarterback, but I have to think that the Argos won't make Ray available. We'll see! ***** British Columbia Lions 24....Saskatchewan Roughriders 22 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=432524 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4626953 Holy Toledo! What a fourth quarter! The Lions controlled a low-scoring first half. With two seconds left, Chris Garrett caught a touchdown pass to give the Riders a 9-6 lead. Even Rod and Carm thought that he dropped the ball, and that it was a bad call. The Lions came out with a vengeance in the third quarter, and took a 21-12 lead. Weston Dressler caught a TD pass with 38 seconds left in the game to give the Riders the lead. On the last play of the game, Paul McCallum kicked a 42-yarder to win it.
  8. Congratulations Daniel!
  9. Hamilton Tiger-Cats 28....Montreal Alouettes 26 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4626580 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=432433 I wasn't able to listen to this game, and it looks like I missed a good one. After three, the Als led 19-13. The Ticats then scored 15 straight in the fourth. The Als scored a TD with 28 seconds left in the game to make it close, but the Ticats recovered the short kick to seal the victory. Last week Luca Congi missed two field goals, and the Ticats lost by four points. So Kent Austin benched him, and let rookie Brett Lauther play. Lauther kicked four field goals. ***** Toronto Argonauts 33....Calgary Stampeders 27 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4626645 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=432443 Another good game, and a surprise! Calgary played all three of their QBs. This was Drew Tate's first action since early July. The Stamps led 18-15 at the half, and it was tied at 25 after three. Zach Collaros had a surprisingly good game. On the last play of the game, the Stamps had the ball at the Argos 45, and they almost scored a touchdown on an open field kick!
  10. Alan, I think that I'm thinking of their EMI albums.
  11. The Desmond with Jim Hall.
  12. About 2000 I got a copy of Weather Report's Black Market from BMG, and I heard something that reminded me of Soft Machine there. I suppose that the Softs borrowed something from it.
  13. A number of these people are pretty impressive. It must be nice to know what you want to do with your life when you are fifteen. I may be wrong, but I think that Canadians Celine Dion and Wayne Gretsky didn't graduate either. http://magazine.foxnews.com/celebrity/20-celebrities-who-never-finished-high-school?intcmp=HPBucket
  14. Edmonton Eskimos 35....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27 http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4626407 http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=432376 Fun game! I've found that games between the league's two worst teams are often entertaining. Max Hall started for the Bombers, and looked good early on. To the surprise of everyone, the Bombers took a 20-0 lead. The Eskimos spent the remainder of the game chipping away, and finally caught up to tie the game at 27 with 23 seconds left in the fourth. Hugh Charles ran for a touchdown in overtime to win it. The Eskimos had scored 24 unanswered points.

Tonight's Edmonton-Winnipeg game will be on ESPN2 at 8:00. ***** CFL.ca Week 13 game notes http://cfl.ca/article/2013-cflca-game-notes-a-look-at-week-13 ***** Winnipeg has not had a touchdown pass in the last 18 straight quarters (278 minutes, 27 seconds). ***** The Argos have extended their lease at Rogers Centre for another four years, through 2017, but it is not likely they will play there after that. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=432322 ***** David Braley spoke at a PC fundraiser Wednesday, and said that he plans to sell both the Lions and the Argos in the next three years. He has received seven inquiries about the Lions, and three about the Argos. http://www.thespec.com/sports-story/4115735-cfl-braley-looks-to-sell-argos-lions-by-2016/ ***** This week's Ticats-Als game will be in Moncton. 17. I used to listen to WDUQ back in the 70s.
  18. Here is a time lapse photography clip of the raising/righting of the Costa Concordia. Pretty impressive! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/10314238/Costa-Concordia-recovery-time-lapse-footage-shows-raising-of-ship.html
  19. OK, thanks for doing the research. I see that the Twins were the American League champs in 1987, so I guess my recollection is completely wrong. By the way, I lived in the Atlanta area from 1985 to 2001. Some time in the early 90s, Atlanta had an indoor soccer team called the Attack. They hosted the league's all-star game that year, so I took a date to it. During the halftime intermission, a couple of young Braves pitchers were seated at a table signing autographs, so I got them for my niece. They were Tom Glavin and John Smoltz!
  20. Of course, the Ramsey Lewis Trio had a hit with A Hard Day's Night.
  21. Have I posted this before? If so, I couldn't find it. Of course, this list is just one man's opinion. I think I disagree with the John Smoltz/Doyle Alexander trade. As I recall, the Tigers would not have won the World Series without Alexander. In my view, no price is too dear if you win the World Series. http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/list/201107/mlbs-most-lopsided-midseason-trades-ever

  23. I saw Larry Pfohl play for the Als in the 1978 Grey Cup. As you probably know, he went on to fame and fortune in pro wrestling using the name Lex Luger. He now has an autobiography out entitled Wrestling with the Devil. http://www.amazon.com/Wrestling-Devil-Champion-Professional-Redemption/dp/1414378726/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=RVSBV717YT9&coliid=I33ENPU6NB7TUJ
