Calgary Stampeders 44....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 3

The Bomber offense is brutal. I think they got 12 net yards in the first half. Apparently the problem is not just that they are playing with the backup quarterbacks (they played all three tonight), but their o-line isn't doing the job either. The defense soon became exhausted and the Stampeders were able to cruise.
Nik Lewis joined Allen Pitts as the only Stampeders to have 10,000 yards receiving in a career. There are now 16 in league history with 10,000 receiving yards.
Buck Pierce will return from the injured list next week to start for Winnipeg.

jlh, by no means am I saying that Isaacson is an idiot. But over the years I have seen very little analysis of the Apple products, and a lot of applause for their sales figures. Any idiot can do that.
In fact, I learned a great deal from the book about why someone might want to be an Apple customer.
By the way, I did feel that Isaacson glossed over the fact that Apple products are (relatively speaking) for those for whom price is no object. Jobs focused on making the best products, rather than offering the best value. Of course, it's for each consumer to decide for himself whether Apple (during his second tenure) offered the best items and whether the closed system offered the best value.

I just heard what I believe is the single from Krall's new album. It is called something like "I've got a wide, wide river to cross".
It's country!
Her singing and the musicians with her were quite good. Unfortunately, it is a very boring song with the same riff repeated ad nauseum. But that never stopped country music fans! This could be a breakthrough for her.

I finished Walter Isaacson's book about Steve Jobs last week.
I suppose that any idiot can say that a successful businessman is a genius. I wonder what people would have said about Jobs and his products if he had put out the same things but not many people bought them.

Thanks guys!
I'll look into moving it onto my hard drive. I guess I'll just have to eat the cost of a short spindle of DVD blanks. It's not the end of the world.
By the way, the movie is out of print, and this was the only seller except for one who was very, very high. So I guess that explains it.

I recently bought a DVD from an Amazon UK Marketplace Seller, and it appears that I received a DVD-R. It's purple.
My understanding is that these decompose over time, and that it would be wise to make a copy by burning it at a slow speed.
I have never burned a DVD before, and am unaware of why I should expect to ever burn another in the future.
So I will have to buy a short spindle of DVD blanks.
Here's my question: Can I use the remaining DVD blanks to burn CDs?

Apropos, I have come across an old article that mentions a couple of Yogi-isms.
"My little son can't wait to shave, so he can grow a beard."
At a store selling fishing equipment, a sign advertised, "All the worms you want for a dollar." Yogi asked for $2 worth.

If the Douglas box is priced like the current sets are, I'll plan to get it for Christmas. Maybe the Adams too.

As for the the spinster school marm thing, while the situations may not be quite parallel, I recall an ill-fated college course I took in Homeric Greek, which was taught by one of the world's chief experts on the subject. Our first task was to memorize the 24-letter Greek alphabet, from Alpha to Omicron.
Larry, the Greek alphabet extends to Omega, way past Omicron! Please don't tell me that you dropped the course rather than learn the alphabet!

Congrats BfB!!!
I only listen to spotify on my desktop. Is the app for mobile devices only?

I normally ignore the weekly and monthly awards because I think that what is important is what happens on the playing field rather than sportswriters' votes. However, I think it is worth noting that Jon Cornish has been named the Canadian of the Week for the past three consecutive weeks.

Thanks mjzee! I might spend some credits on what I don't have.

In what doesn't make much sense, the Eskimos traded Derek Schiavone and next year's first and fourth round draft picks to the Als for unproven kicker Brody McKnight.

Thanks Ted! I've bookmarked it.

Larry Taylor is injured, so the Stamps have signed Jason Armstead.

I forgot to mention that Darian Durant injured his hip flexor (I think it was in the second quarter) in the Banjo Bowl, and it was rookie Drew Willy who led the Riders to victory. Durant will be dressed for this week's game, but it looks like Willy will play.

Here's an Allan Maki summary of where the Ticats stand about where they might play next year while Ivor Wynne is being rebuilt.

A few comments from the weekend:
Marcus Thigpen (Miami, punt return) and Jerrell Freeman (Indianapolis, interception) scored touchdowns in their NFL debuts yesterday.
*****
Swayze Waters sprained his neck (I'm not sure when or how), and the Argos brought Eric Wilbur back. He had a so-so game. He is a punter who also tries placekicking, and there is room for improvement in the latter area.

The league is promoting the 100th Grey Cup with a train car which will travel from coast to coast over the course of ten weeks. It started in Vancouver yesterday. The car is like a nice Hall of Fame display.
