Street Fighting Men! I am with you MG, shits....

Adrian,Get off the fence- you will not regret it, even if I would not advise you to listen to it all in one go!But then I never did have any of the individual records, and I love it...

Im guessing that it is this boot , Bring me my shotgun, which was offered in the Netherlands years ago, and which failed to arrive.

I've been trying to get the Rhino Handmade compilation of Percy Mayfield's Atlantic and Tangerine recordings. It only came out in January 2004 and seems to have been deleted within about a year. Currently, you can get it from Amazon US partners for $85 And You can get it from Amazon UK partners for 122 GBpounds - this is a single CD!
I'm NOT paying that much, not even for Percy Mayfield. Someone at Rhino SERIOUSLY misjudged the market.
MG
Not only did they misjudge the market, but the relatively large number of copies they supplied to Spin in Newcastle, UK, had the wrong cds , And as a limited edition! Spin never received replacements, and so I never received my pre ordered copy.

Dont have it to hand but I am pretty sure that Wenners interview with Garcia that came out in book form mentioned a solo album. Also remember about 10 years back, that a release sheet of indie releases that went out to Dutch shops mentioned that it was on the way, I made an advance ordet, but it never turned up....

I voted for Cherry and Blackwell, but in all fairness, it is impossible for me to rule out any of his recordings. I love them all. I really enjoy all his Liberation orchestra projects (esp the one based on the Spanish Civil War). Excellent.
Years ago (1982 or 1983) I saw Charlie Haden leading a quartet in NYC. The band was Haden, Richie Beirach, Michael Brecker and Al Foster. Kind of an odd set of bedfellows, but the music was beautiful. I had seats right in front of the stage.
Al was playing so loud that my friends wanted to leave. I was like "are you fucking kidding me?? I'm not going anywhere!"
Today is the 70 anniversary of the start of the Spanish civil war, with Francos rising in Morroco, the 19 is the day that the CNT/FAI led the resistance to the Coup in Barcelona, saving it for the Republic. Buenaventura Durruti, please step forward and take a bow!

Too right.....
Wasnt he recording a solo album at the time of his demise?

In theory, still like my shelf full of Sun Ra but never listen, With only a very few exceptions kicked my Zorn/Tzadik habit( tho I kept all the Masadas), and all Jarrets except the Impulse American band.

Yup Kinuta, I remember it well, ( Well not really well if you know what I mean!)
And Chewy , Yes were the pits even way back when. there was a time when I could not avoid Yours is no disgrace, no matter how hard I tried, every pubescent hippie chickidee seemed to play the Yes album, drove me up the soddin wall!

Anyone else remember Mike Wilhelms poetic exchange with Graham in the terrible film of the Fillmore Wests last stand `F..k you and thanks for the memories!`?
and I would love to have a stack of SF music Quicksilver, Mad River, C J Fish, Electric Flag, Country Weather and so on, aint never gonna happen, but it would be nice sometime before I die....

Dont have much interest in the topic, but want to tell you to keep your head down and stay safe, unlike those other poor sods on the other side of the border or in Gaza...

Sorry Virgil, stupid ommission, CD

Upp for grabs! 250 dollars via Pay-Pal, buyer to pay actual shipping costs- which, be warned, are relatively high from Sweden. Bought from a Board member, played once and filed away. Everything mint or very conservativly, near mint. Not interested in scalping, so not going the E-Bay route, at least not yet.
PM me if interested.

Dont know about the music, but you might like to read the excellent book by Guy Debord from which they have lifted the title! Or, why not, read anything you can lay your hands on by the Situationist International of which Debord was a co-founder.

So what is available on CD? This thread got me playing the Golden Eight 3 times in a row, cant say that I actually HEARD it before! So I am intrigued and thirsting for more.

My software is really simple. A pencil and a little notebook.
I used to fret and concern myself about nice covers but have now adopted a less burdensome mindset.
Must be nice to have handwriting that doesn't suck. The version I'm running didn't come with that feature, and I've never bothered with any of the upgrades I'm afraid.
It probably does suck but I can read it. The problem I have is my wife cleans up and the notebook goes missing for days on end.
Perhaps its time to upgrade her? Just a suggestion, I hear there are nice new models available...

Sad, perhaps the definitive passing of an era.

First news in a while that makes me cry. Forever Changes has been a constant source of solace in difficult times since it was first released. In my opinion the best rock album ever, for me attaining something close to the status of Truth-and I know how corney that sounds, but about how many pieces of plastic can one say that?and I know that not much of worth came after....
Till the end of this generation, Love Lives!
Arturly, Alone again
Or?
I wonder who it will be tomorrow, you or me....
