  2. I was doing a search on the Art Ensemble of Chicago & came upon a Chuck Nessa post that mentioned an "advance copy of Art Ensemble of Chicago with special guest Fred Anderson Peace Be Unto You - Live in Seattle - two discs." Does Chuck or anyone else know if/when this is going be issued?
  3. Good win for the Lakes last night in Boston. Phil is pushing them to get the home court advantage throughout the playoffs. I don't expect Bynum back this season, and going for that might burn them out.

  6. I only know his playing from a couple of George Russell records - primarily the Five Spot album. David Young could truly play. I thank him for his music and mourn his passing.
  7. Claude Williams was a wonderful musician. I heard him when he was in his late 80's - not playing guitar anymore, only violin (or fiddle, as he referred to it), and how he played! When he hit the stand, it was as if he were thirty years younger. Only heard him play live once, but I'll remember it for as long as I'm around. Incidentally, Claude Williams' manager also managed Benny Waters at that time. Mr. Waters was then in his 90's.

  10. I think that Zappa thought that people were attached to strings and that he was the puppeteer.
  11. Have to disagree about the new remastering of Procession of the Great Ancestry. To my ears, the new version is a great improvement over the Chief version. Not only is there an improvement to the upper frequencies - the Chief sounds somewhat muffled in comparison - but the new version sounds more open and clearer. I never enjoyed listening to the Chief version as much as I enjoyed listening to the Nessa version today. Just one person's opinion, but I feel it should be out there.

  14. Tossup between the Herbie Nichols, Cecil/Neidlinger, and the Bud Powell - the first two for the notes in the booklets, and the Bud for the photographs in the booklet. If the H.R.S. were out of print and it would be difficult to replace, that would be my choice for the music.
