  1. http://www.smallsjazzclub.com This is the website where you can see my new group featuring Stephen Riley on July 25th at 7.30 pm. Just click the live video button.
  2. When I advertised my teaching on this forum I should have included working with Mcduff. We actually got along very well after I stopped playing with him. He gave me a thick skin, something i'll always be grateful for.
  3. check out the live video from the smalls website. you can see any gig live from anywhere on earth (ny time). the late night jam sessions are especially fun to watch. i'm playing at 7.30 on the 23rd if you want catch my act. http://www.smallsjazzclub.com/index.cfm?it...=0&banner=a
  4. Hey bro whats up. I've actually been to Toronto a couple of times since I saw you. Playing to empty houses unfortunately. My man Keita is always trying to get me up there usually incurring huge financial loss for him, so I guess when he replenishes his coffers I can come up and tilt at windmills some more.
  5. Hi, this is Ned Goold. I toured the world with Harry Connick Jr. for 19 years and was his musical director and lead altoist for the last 5 years. I also recorded and toured with his Quartet (Other Hours). I've played regularly in NY with my groups for the last 10 years, and have 4 cd's out as well as many with others. I am very well-studied in the styles of most of the great soloists going back to the twenties and have a large library of hundreds of standards. I have developed my own system of harmony stemming from the innovations of the great bebop soloists. The reason for this undignified blast of self-promotion is that i'm looking to teach in the NY area and I believe I have lots of valuable knowledge to impart (and I need the money) so step right up! goooold@yahoo.com 973-851-7277
  6. i especially liked the part where he was enjoying that violinist at the 55 bar. that's the great thing about jazz, especially now that it's considered an art form, everybody can participate whether they're a master or they've been playing for two months. it's beautiful the way he lets his students bypass all that tedious work by telling them to create their own language. what an idiot schoenberg was when he refused to teach 12-tone harmony before his students were thoroughly versed in diatonic traditional practices. thank god jazz has done away with all that.
  7. i was wondering if anybody saw this cecil taylor movie that was on ondemand cable where i live? if so, what did you think?
  8. You'll be on west coast time so it won't be late for you.
  9. What kind of show is yours, Ned. Jam session? Multi-media extravaganza? Oh, I'll just look at the site. It's late night around 1.30. It's not a jam session, but it's real swingin'. I'll send you an example if you like. goooold@yahoo.com
  10. Ned Goold at Smalls every Saturday night either late or early, I'll let you know. Greatest show on Earth.
  11. I have two great versions, one by the '20's Goldkette band and one by Pres. Email me and I'll send. goooold@yahoo.com
  12. I just wanted to talk to Larry Kart. Nedgoold.com-contact
