Hardbopjazz
Well, I checked my highly detailed database, and fully 100% of the jazz musicians in my collection are dead! So I take it you don't have either of the organissimo CDs?!? FOR SHAME!!! I don't mind listening to dead guys play there own music, and I especially enjoy hearing living people play their own music . It's the live ones trying to play like the dead ones that bugs the piss out of me. Bingo. I have the two CD's and that's what is keeping it under 75%. Jim Alfredson
We appreciate that. I was ragging on Berigan, since he claims to have 100% dead people in his collection.

Just stay healthy and don't smoke too much and you'll help keep the percentage down. Pluse since you drive to a lot of your gigs, don't pull a Brownie. It seems a lot of jazz musicians met their demise this way.

What do you guys use to catalog your collection? Does anyone have a reccomendation that can make typing in 1000 cds relatively easy?
jazzbo
How do I factor in "not on the scene but alive" and "burned out badly?"
jazzbo
I would categorize my collection "Jazz" and "everything else," with a large area in between where they sort of blend into each other in a hard to define way. . . .

Jason Drake
my calculations show that 72% of people like music that could (make that should) be defined as "dead".
