Brad Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Bob Von Langen, who some of you may know, has emailed me (and others) the following, which may be of interest: fourteen (14) Chrono(lo)gical Classics ( France) of DUKE ELLINGTON and his orchestra are offered for a fixed price.... These fourteen CDs cover the period 1932 through 1946, considered by many to Duke's crown glory years...I have made a scan of the first and last CD in this superb series and hope that it will come through on your server/computer..if they don't and you would like an image , write me (bobvl@aol.com) and I will tru to send you the image individually). Every CD has between 20 and 23 tracks...all liner notes are in English and a full discography is included in the booklet.. Most CDs have photocopies of Jazz magazine reviews, which I gathered over the years.. Write me at bobvl@aol.com if you are interested Quote
ghost of miles Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 Anybody looking for the material that never came out as THE DUKE'S SMALL GROUPS V. 3 on Columbia would be well-advised to pick up the 1939 and 1940 volumes in this series... Also some Blanton-Webster material on the 1940 one (I think) that predates the RCA Victor box-set. Prime Duke, that's for sure! Quote
jazzbo Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 I've been considering the sale of my copies of the first twenty Dukes on Chronogical Classics as well. Anyone that wants to give me a little personal nudge is welcome to. . . Quote
