Kind of a dicked up deal.

I disagreed with hiring the dude in the first place. Not because of his personal problems, but for the fact they the pulled the guy from A ball.

Oy of the three finalists for consideration, I thought Melvin was the best choice.

The rule of hiring & firing is that a team that loses with an easy going manager next picks a hardass (and vice versa.)

The hardass manager lasts 4 days, and now they're back to the easy going manager. :rolleyes:

I am sure the Diamondbacks didn't rush or anything, it just makes sense to hire another 100 game loser to be your manager! :tup

In the NY newspapers, there were rumors that the Mets, who interviewed Backman, had concerns about his 'off-the-field' life. That raised a red flag to me(I thought drinking), but did not with D-Backs management, who did no background check. :wacko:
