Miles Davis 1971 Band

I was reading the May 27, 1971 "Downbeat" [i'm a little behind on my reading ] and came across this snipped of information in the Potpourri section:

Miles Davis opened the new Gaslight (on the site of the Old Cafe Au Go Go) in Greeenwich Village with a set that not only started on time but offered 85 smoldering minutes of music, which was just what the doctor ordered, what with a $4 door tab and $1.30 for a cup of tea (no booze).  With the trumpeter were Gary Bartz, alto and soprano saxes; Keith Jarrett, electric piano, organ; Mike Henderson, bass; Jack DeJohnette, drums, and Airto Moreira on a wondrous assortment of percussive devices and occasional vocal contributions

Perhaps this Miles group is well-know to everyone but me, but I found the lineup pretty unusual, and was wondering if this group ever recorded? And how long did it remain together?

I couldn't remember Bartz recording with Miles - forgot all about "Live-Evil," which, actually, I do not have How many other albums did this group make?

BTW, having gone to the Miles discography site, I note there is not a link to Bartz's web site (www.garybartz.com) from the "Davis Sidemen on the Web" section.

This is the same band that played the Isle of Wright Festival. I have kept only the disc that featured Miles ( it was a 2 lp set) that has "Call It Anythn'" on it.

The Chancler group was recorded on almost every date of their European tour -- hardly underrecorded! It's too bad those dates don't have Jack on them, though; the group was better when he was on drums.

I agree there. . . I would rather have Jack on drums on those that I have as well! Nice Jarrett though!

The dates/locations listed are only there when *recordings* exist (unless you know of a tape of the Zellerbach show). As far as I can tell, Peter Losin isn't trying to present a complete chronology of every appearance. He does mention additional unrecorded gigs at the end of each session entry. Drop him a line, he'll probably want to mention the gig you saw. I can't check the Jan Lohmann discography right now - that book does try to have a complete chronology in the back.

i meant underrecorded in the studio and there are no official live releases either as far as the chancler band goes....

so i think underexposed maybe would have been more apt.
