jazzman4133 Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Don't be fooled by the new cover. This Two CD set contains three outstanding Roulette LP albums by Tyree Glenn, featuring the drastically underrecorded Mary Osborne. This edition contains three complete albums: - Tyree Glenn's 'At the Embers' (Roulette R-25009) - Tyree Glenn's 'At the Roundtable' (Roulette SR-25050) - Tyree Glenn's 'At the London House' (Roulette SR-25138) Quote
bertrand Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 Does Mary Osborne play on most/all tracks? If so, I'm getting it. She's awesome. Bertrand. Quote
Jim R Posted November 27, 2004 Report Posted November 27, 2004 I can't remember which one I had, but I once bought one of those Glenn LP's with Osborne in hopes of hearing her. She was virtually nonexistent in the mix, and had no solos. To this day, I still wonder if I had some sort of "error" pressing... Quote
Brownian Motion Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 I'm intrigued. I used to have one of these on vinyl (At the Embers I think) and it was very light and low energy. Glenn stuck to vibes throughout, and Shorty Baker never removed his mute. But with all that talent, the potential exists for some fine playing, so I'd be interested in hearing other's opinions. Quote
Bill Nelson Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Well, the above 'Attached Image' is a scan of Hank Jones' Capitol LP, 'The Talented Touch' and it does NOT involve Tyree Glenn. So, is this another bogus Roulette mobster rip-off or what? For starters, why'd they have to rip the cover image from Hank's Capitol LP? Quote
