ejp626 Posted December 15, 2004 Author Report Posted December 15, 2004 Wasn't Land's JAZZ IMPRESSIONS OF FOLK MUSIC already included in the Carmell Jones Mosaic Select? I'm sure it was... I know there's a lot of later Hutcherson that hasn't seen light of day on CD, but I'd live with missing a few to get a Hutch/Land collection. One of the great partnerships in jazz, highly worthy of a full-sized Mosaic devoted to their work. Re: work being spread across labels, that's just another reason for Mosaic to take this on - one of their specialties is bringing together such scattered work. You're right. I'm so embarassed. What's worse is that I have that Select, but only played it once (so far) and just didn't remember. And to think that just the other day, I almost bid on a copy of Jazz Impressions. Well, I wouldn't be opposed to a large Mosaic box that had the core Hutcherson/Land albums, but then had some of the LPs they did on their own. That would indeed be choice. I'm listening to Choma right now. This material just begs to return to circulation. Still, I am most interested in getting the rarest reissued, which seems to be Inner Glow, followed by Head On. DrJ Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 Hey, no explanation necessary about forgetting about JAZZ IMPRESSIONS OF FOLK MUSIC...as my collection grows I have to sometimes pass on stuff in CD stores because I have a vague feeling I already have it! Couple times when I got home and checked, I was right! Quote
mike casinghino Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 (edited) i just received a reply from mosaic about a bobby hutcherson box. "we are talking about a select of the best of bobby's 70s work for blue note." that could include tunes from: cirrus knucklebeans inner glow head on waiting the view from the inside linger lane live at montreux san francisco natural illusions montara if that e-mail means what i think it does,a compilation, rather than complete albums, like the other selects, i won't be to thrilled. especially since the first seven albums on the list have never been on cd. to take a couple of tunes from each recording, my achin' butt! i hope it means the best of bobby's 70's albums.(complete albums). ejp626 Posted December 18, 2004 Author Report Posted December 18, 2004 A compilation would really blow. If they want to do that, it should just come out on BN, like the Grant Green set. I believe all the Selects have been complete albums, so I will cross my fingers and hope for 5 or 6 complete albums. I don't think they would reissue Montara or San Francisco, since they are still readily available, but I guess you never know. Still hoping for the ultra-rare Inner Glow. (I think that would create some buzz in jazz circles -- never released in the US in any format.) Quote
jazzbo Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 I would be very surprised if they did a compilation. Most likely they would choose like five or six lps to put on three cds. . . . I would guess that they choose: cirrus knucklebeans inner glow head on waiting the view from the inside Quote
mike casinghino Posted December 18, 2004 Report Posted December 18, 2004 lon, i hope you are correct. lets see now.......the power of positive thinking! Quote

ejp626 Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Posted December 23, 2004 I guess here is as good as anywhere, since we've been talking about the Hutcherson/Land team. A New Shade of Blue is up on ebay for an ok price Land - New Shade as well as an ok copy of Total Eclipse. Not my auctions. Hutcherson - Total Eclipse Quote
ejp626 Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 A UK seller is offering the ultra rare inner glow on Ebay. The opening bid is a bit more than I want to pay (I have my fingers crossed it will show up on the Select). But knock yourselves out.Inner glow Quote
