  1. i just saw that mr. bang passed.what a shame.saw billy a number of times, but one of my favorite shows ever,by any artist, was b.b. solo at umass a few years back.took ma to the show, she's a big jazz fan,sat front row center, and as i said,a great show.at half time we talked to mr. bang, very friendly, and he kindly signed my concert poster,to mike and connie, thanks for coming out to the concert.peace, billy bang.may he rest in peace.imo,a big loss to the jazz world.
  2. imo, this guy can't even act.poor lion & wolff,i don't think they are turning over in their graves,i they are spinning like a top!
  3. saw p. brotzmann a number of years ago, when eremite records was doing their concert thing,at the unitarian meeting house,in amherst, mass.having not really heard anything by p.b.,to that point in time,i was shocked at,imo, how bad(good) this dude was.when i want some quiet moments to contemplate life,i put on death rattle, with brotzmann and laswell.just kidding, but i am always playing it!
  4. to helen fong.soul symphony(the title track) is a rare groove masterpiece, the henderson is good, and the steig, even in this butchered state,is a zillion times better than anything that blue note has released by bobbi humphrey. the above rant is ,of course,IMO!!!to all, please feel free to take potshots at my humble observations.
  5. mikeweil,i agree with you completely. how they can release three complete albums by bobbi humphrey, and do a butcher job on jeremy steig,is beyond me.
  6. big al,my copy of the kenny cox cd better have 12 tracks,or i'm a gonna be pissed off! to j.a.w.,i actually liked the turrentine tracks. will be picking up all five cd's. other than wait for a your music release(may never come),has anyone seen a better price than deep discount,$13.79 + free shipping.
  7. i don't believe that there has been any blue note 4000 series recording only released as part of a "best of" cd. it would seem odd to start doing that now. if it does come down to your guess, all of wayfaring stranger, and bonus tracks from legwork, i'd take that in an instant. though i still think my "doubletime" idea is the way to go.
  8. i e-mailed michael cuscuna quite a while ago and suggested a doubletime release of : this is jeremy steig legwork wayfaring stranger i agree with donald peterson, a best of is pretty lame. in that case, just release, wayfaring stranger, in it's entirety. this was the only one released in the blue note 4000 series. the tracks on,wayfaring stranger: in the beginning 8:14 mint tea 5:17 wayfaring stranger 10:54 waves 5:50 all is one 10:45 space 5:40 approx. 47 minutes(these times are all from the lp),would someone provide the same info for legwork. thanks.
  9. lon, looking at the new arrivals recently,i believe you are right. hopefully they will still be offering new connoisseur and rvg titles.
  10. well, the major selling point for me,two never issued on cd blue note sessions.i don't go by someone's negative comments.i will give it a listen, and make my own or decision. but will wait for a yourmusic arrival.(read:cheap).
  11. tom, good luck in any event you participate in.as for myself,i'm waiting for them to add the 5 mile shortcut as an option.until then,i will make a charitable contribution to my nephews ride.
  12. i used to do quite a bit of riding on my trek hybrid, i was never into road bikes, until that encounter with a pickup truck. i had the right of way,i guess it did not matter to the truck. after that i basically stopped riding for a number of years. just started back up over the last couple. tom,are you talking about the,pan-massachusetts challenge, that raises money for the jimmy fund? that takes place the beginning of august. my nephew, who is a personal trainer in the boston area, has become quite a bike enthusiast.he will be riding in the challenge for the second straight year. he does the long ride,192 miles,in two days! pan mass challenge
  13. i'm with you ,in that i don't trust ANY vehicle on the road. though i mainly ride on the road, i don't start riding until i can leave as early as 5:00 a.m. and my riding stops for the year when i can't leave before 6:00 a.m. this way i have very little traffic to worry about.
  14. the fabrizio bosso for sure, must support my fellow italians!
