Jazzmoose Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 Saxophone player I heard on KCSM today (the cut was Desperate Measures from the Steeplechase disc A New Abode); I really liked what I heard, and was wondering if anyone knew anything or had any recommendations. Seems like the DJ said she was from somewhere in Eastern Europe, but I can't be sure... Quote
mikeweil Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 (edited) Here's her website. She's from Turkey and came to the USA in 1993. But she's the pianist on the record ..... Rich Perry plays tenor on the CD. Edited December 12, 2004 by mikeweil Quote
mikeweil Posted December 12, 2004 Report Posted December 12, 2004 (edited) ... and, BTW, if you want to pronounce her name corectly: Seela (like in "Sheila") Jeavickjea ("jea" like in "jealous", slight accent on the last syllable. Edited December 12, 2004 by mikeweil Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 15, 2004 Author Report Posted December 15, 2004 Duh.... Thanks, Mike...guess I should be asking if anyone is familiar with Perry.... Quote
Big Wheel Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 Perry is a nasty MF with a very distinctive sound. He has several solos on the last few Maria Schneider albums. Also have dug his playing on his own Steeplechase records. Quote
