JSngry Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Just saw this on one of those off-brand cable channels (True-E, I think it was, something like that...) Copyright 2003, 90 minutes, Executive Producer Celia Mingus Zaentz, plenty of footage and photos, Bob Koester, Hubert Sumlin, Hubert Sumlin's "longtime wife", Wolf's daughters, Marshall Chess, Sam Lay's home movies of a night at the club, the list goes on... If this has been discussed here previously, sorry, but how was this originally released? Don't recall any theatrical release, but I don't live in the civilized world... Don't know how it "rates" as a piece of documentary and/or filmmaking, but it was a helluva nice way to pass an hournadahaff. Quote
JSngry Posted December 29, 2004 Author Report Posted December 29, 2004 Celia Mingus Zaentz Saul Zaentz's kid or ??? also, tho' i have no info on the Chester Burnett flick, did you happen to see the David Leaf directed, Brian Wilson documentary, "Beautiful Dreamer"? i think it aired on Showtime a while back but since i don't have a tv, i got on dvd via "the underground." verrrrry worthwhile, tho' i wish they'd done a little more on the dark years. c Mingus' ex, I'm wondering/thinkng... Haven't yet seen the Brian thing. Should, will. Hardly watch anything anymore. Warm milk, please. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Mingus' ex, I'm wondering/thinkng... Yes. Mrs. Z is the former Mrs. M. This should bring the Debut/Workshop stuff into focus. Quote
Joe Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 Yes, this is available for purchase on DVD. Worth picking up, too, as the little silver disc comes with some extra footage. Quote
