Bluerein Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 Hello all, can someone point me to the new SACD jewel cases (as used by Fantasy and others) sold online (to EU countries). Thanks and a happy and healthy 2005!!!! Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 (edited) Be careful Reinier... there are 2 types of SACDs cases and they are not compatible. The ones Fantasy use have a locking mechanism. Others do not. Acoustic Sounds sells the non-locking version and I believe they ship outside the US. EDIT> In looking around the web, it appears that the maker of the locking SACD cases has a website and they do ship to the EU. The URL is http://www.superjewelbox.com/. mikeweil Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 The Fantasy SACDs I have even come with two slightly different non-compatible designs!!! Quote
Bluerein Posted January 3, 2005 Author Report Posted January 3, 2005 You're right Mike. The first batch (or 2) have the older Super Jewel cases. Those are readily available in the Netherlands. I'm looking for the newer ones which aren't. Quote
Claude Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 The strangest SACD case I have is the one from the very early (1999) japanese SACD release of Tony Williams "Young at heart". It's a digipack, but the plastic part is twice as thick as a normal CD digipack, so from the side it looks like a 2CD set. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 My SACD of "Live At Massey Hall" from BMG has "old style" artwork in a "new style" case! The biggest difference is the width of the hinges on the cover. The older style cases have a deeper hinge than the new. I can tell the difference by the spines. The old style has less space for the spine. Funny thing: the latest batch of SACDs from UMG ("Layla", "Lush Life", "Coltrane/Hartman") all have what I've been calling the "old style" case! Later, Kevin Quote
alankin Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 Instead of copy protecting CDs, Universal has plans to change the jewel case every year. Quote
