Alfred Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Ohh boy, what for a great box this 12LP set is! The sound of the 180g vinyls are extremely good. I have an original pressing of Coltrane Jazz and can't say which one sounds better. Nice packaging and very informative booklet! I bought this box for €100 (2nd edition, sealed) some days before christmas and still listen to nothing else. Highly recommendend! It's no longer available directly from Rhino Handmade but it can be found elsewhere (e.g. True Blue). Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted January 8, 2005 Report Posted January 8, 2005 Does it have the problem with Equinox missing the starting few notes? Was that ever corrected on the CD boxed set? Mike Quote

I think it sounds good, in fact, subsequent spins have only aded to my positive impressions. An essential set, I think, that will attract and reward repeated listenings. Quote
Daniel A Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Are the individual albums complete with replicas of the original sleeves, or is the cover art reprinted in the booklet? Quote

sidewinder Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Are the individual albums complete with replicas of the original sleeves, or is the cover art reprinted in the booklet? Daniel - I have the vinyl box and the LPs come with outer sleeves which are replicas of the original LPs. There's also a very nice big booklet with additional notes and photos from the sessions. Don't recall the rice paper inserts - standard PVC as I recall (I think I have one of the second batch). Quote
Parkertown Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 Perhaps I used the wrong term...you know...those sleeves like the ECM Records releases use...like the MFSL releases use...you know... Quote
