GA Russell Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Have you bought multiple copies of the same title? No. I notice that they use the word "manipulation" as if I did something in addition to simply using the code. And I have no idea what they are referring to when they speak of "the required qualifying selection". Quote

It probably will not change anything, but you have nothing to lose. Quote

T.D. Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I've been a BMG member for over a decade, but haven't ordered from them in ages (essentially switched to yourmusic). Recently got a "Your credit card is about to expire" e-mail from BMG (yourmusic already has my updated info). If BMG is about to be shut down, maybe I shouldn't bother to update. Quote
Noj Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Wow, I wonder if the rest of us will get it. I sure used that free code multiple times. I gave it to my mom to use too. Quote

mikelz777 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I just had a scare. I got an email from BMG's customer service regarding "Information About Your BMG Jazz Club Account". I thought they were going to shut me down but they were just contacting me about a prior (free) order that has been out of stock and that they hope to receive a new supply shortly. Whew!! Quote
Tjazz Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I once tried to sell a couple to FYE and they wouldnt touch them. They told me that they had an arrangement with bmgmusic that prevented them to accept any club CDs. I think you can sell BMG CDs to secondspin.com Quote

The situation stinks, and I am interested to hear what response (if any) you receive. Quote

Ron, been there done that, twice already. They refused to pass me on to a supervisor. The first time I was angry about it. The first time she promised me that they would contact me by mail. The second time he promised me that they would call me within 36 hours. (They didn't.) You will note that my access to the website was cancelled Dec. 22, but it was not until Jan. 21 that they informed me of what was up. Pretty poor organization all the way around, it seems to me. And I have no idea what they are referring to when they speak of "the required qualifying selection". Seems like they may think you used a code for a free item when you buy another item. . . . That would seem "manipulation" to them if you got free items without qualifying by buying another. . . . It could be/probably is just a "form letter" message. Quote
WD45 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I can confirm the closure message in the mailing. One more club mailing to follow but will be able to shop online through June. June 30, 2009 is the last day of BMG music service. It says May 31, 2009 is the last day to redeem free music you might have. It also says something about sending more info about yourmusic. You know it's the end when they actually put contact info on the sheet. email: cs1@bmgmusicservice.com phone: 1-888-443-8264 Saw this on the DVD Talk forum BMG thread today. Quote
Tjazz Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 just got the Sonny Stitt - STIS IN WITH THE OSCAR PETERSON TRIO Digipak with no BMG label markings. Quote
Big Al Posted January 31, 2009 Author Report Posted January 31, 2009 just got the Sonny Stitt - STIS IN WITH THE OSCAR PETERSON TRIO Digipak with no BMG label markings. I received the Crusaders PASS THE PLATE and Lalo Schifrin's PIANO, STRINGS, AND BOSSA NOVA also in digipaks. For the Verve Originals that came in jewel cases, if you remove the black tray and replace it with a clear tray, you'll find more information printed on the back side of the jewel-case tray card. Aggie87 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Sorry, I am just catching up after being gone for an extended weekend. F9E1 - 3 free cds This one works on 2 disc sets again. I don't know how many more of these codes are going to show up before BMG shuts down (or how long they'll be valid), so if you want to use them, I'd recommend not waiting too long! Quote
Big Al Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 More props for their customer service: using one of the free codes, I ordered: Luiz Bonfa PLAYS AND SINGS BOSSA NOVA Sonny Stitt SITS IN WITH OSCAR PETERSON The BLACK ORPHEUS remaster Stan Getz in STOCKHOLM They sent Luiz Bonfa's Violão E O Samba instead of Plays and Sings. When I contacted BMG about this, they said to keep Violao and they would send Plays and Sings at no charge, which they did. No lie: I actually felt guilty enough about this to tell them to bill me for the replacement! Quote
WD45 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Pierre-Laurent Aimard - Hommage A Messiaen Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane - Cannonball And Coltrane Andrés Segovia - Icon: Andrés Segovia- Classical Guitar 3 CD $12 and change. w00t! Quote
WD45 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 2/3 Off CDs Plus FREE SHIPPING when you order 4 or more CDs M9S1, 2 You can nab the Ella Fitzgerald Songbooks 16 CD box for $87 shipped. I did! Quote
Dave Garrett Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I managed to snooze through the free shipping code that expired a week or so ago - anyone know if there's another similar code that still works? There are a few discs I'd like to pick up before BMG closes its doors for good (on, I believe, the 23rd), but I'm weighing the chances of another free shipping promotion happening between now and then before deciding whether to pull the trigger now or wait a bit longer.
