ghost of miles Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I've read conflicting interpretations of Terry's title, which apparently debuted in 1957... shortly after the Rosa Parks affair. Most seem to think it's an allusion to his time spent on the road with Ellington. Any definitive answers from Mr. Terry himself? Quote
jlhoots Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 I don't know - but, it's really a great album. Quote
mjzee Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 The road. The liner notes went on in great detail about how Clark is in Ellington's band, so he's on the road all the time, and how Ellington monopolizes his time so it's wonderful that he got away long enough to make this recording. Chuck Nessa Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I always thought he sniffed one and was happy. Quote
