Was this ever released under a different title? Has it ever been issued on CD? It's the only Art Blakey Blue Note I don't have.

Reissued on CD, but not in the US. Thanks for reminding me--I must have forgotten to pack my JRVG copies when I moved back to Boston (damn cardboard sleeves, screwing up my binder system).

I purchased the two TOCJ volumes in 1994.

I own volume 1 and 2 (JRVGs) and they are both very good. This has nothing to do with the Messengers music or anything else Blakey recorded with Blue Note but this is very good music.

Hmmmm. . . I have these. . . I really don't listen too often. . . sort of boring to me. But then again, I'm not getting rid of them!

Agree with Lon on this one. I love drums - used to play them in an R&R band - but there such a thing as too much of a good thing and that, at least IMO, is the case here.

I like those Blakey drum sessions for BN. Favorite of those are the Orgies...
