Alon Marcus Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I suppose it's the worst poll ever but I just listened to those three performances in a row. Three great trumpeters playing on this fast tune with it's challenging chord changes. I like all three of them but Byrd is probably my favorite. Quote
Alon Marcus Posted March 8, 2005 Author Report Posted March 8, 2005 Forgot Wynton Marsalis take on that tune from "Standart Time vol.1". I love that version too. Quote
Free For All Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Clifford at the Bee Hive. Yes indeed. Me too. Easy question. Quote
Larry Kart Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Shouldn't that be Clifford/Max at the Bee Hive? There are times when it sounds like he and Max have fused or Max is even playing both instruments. Quote
Brownian Motion Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Forgot Wynton Marsalis take on that tune from "Standart Time vol.1". I love that version too. Wynton's "Cherokee" solo with the MJQ ranks up there too. And Joe Wilder made a nice recording of it. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I only heard Cliff do it on that Max Roach album. I would imagine he did it the best. Quote
