GA Russell Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Since you knew the answer to my first question, here's another! I am working with StarOffice, which is just like OpenOffice, and I believe uses the same commands as MS Word. I have created a number of related documents. I would like to bundle them together in one folder. How do I create the folder and then insert the documents into it? Quote
ejp626 Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Do you have a windows or Mac machine? Generally, making folders is easiest in the Explorer tool, which is part of the desktop and not inside any specific program. The most common way is to right click and then you go New --> New Folder. Then you drag things into the new folder. There are other ways, but that is the easiest. Quote
Guest DizzySpells Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 I don't have Star Office, but in the "Save File" dialog box (I think Star Office uses the Windows standard there) there should be some icons. Next to the drop-down box where you can select a folder there should be a folder with a "star" (or whatever that is) on it (fifth symbol from the left next to said drop-down box). If you click there, a new folder will be created in the currently selected folder. You can then save the current file there. Sounds complicated, I know. But it isn't. To get several files into a new folder the Explorer route described above is certainlky the best. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 1. Print the documents. 2. Fold a piece of thin cardboard, approximately 11" by 18" in half. 3. Insert documents. Really, a little common sense is all you need... Quote
Christiern Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 But, of course, if you have common sense, you also have a Mac on which a shift-command-N produces a new folder. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 Thanks guys. EJP, your way works for me! I am able to access the folder from within StarOffice, which is what I wanted. DizzySpells, I haven't figured out yet what you have in mind. I'll give it another try tomorrow when it isn't so late. Quote
Guest DizzySpells Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 The German version of the dialogue, but the icons are the same: Quote
GA Russell Posted March 11, 2005 Author Report Posted March 11, 2005 Thanks DizzySpells! Your way works great. I can save the folder in the My Documents folder and save a step in retrieving the files. It also eliminates having the folder on the desktop. Quote
Claude Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 But, of course, if you have common sense, you also have a Mac on which a shift-command-N produces a new folder. On Windows machines the same command in Explorer produces a sweet DING sound. Ha! Quote
