I'm talking primarily to those who grew up with rock and found jazz later as I did. I guess the classic example of what I mean is hearing Song for My Father start and your brain gets ready for some Steely Dan. I can deal with that; it's so obvious, and I've finally heard the Silver tune enough that my brain doesn't really know what's about to happen...

But the one that always gets mixed up in my head is Nat Adderly's Work Song. Whenever it comes on the radio, or even when I play it at home, if I get even slightly distracted I have a tendency to start singing Locomotive Breath. The annoying thing, of course, is that it's obvious that what my brain considers "the" version is the ripped off one... :rolleyes:

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, either with this song or other songs.
