Just saw this on Salon:

The venerable Smithsonian Folkways label has opened a digital music store, Smithsonian Global Sound -- the most exciting online music happening in quite some time. The site is beautifully designed, and the Web interface is elegant and easy to navigate. The music's the thing, though, with the entirety of Folkways' vast and astonishing collection of folk music from around the world available for download at 99 cents a track. I'll be digging through the store in the coming weeks, and would welcome pointers to anything especially delightful.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox and haven't been able to pull up a single album yet.

Nigeria - no matches

Pakistan - no matches

etc, etc.....

A good idea, but John's right- I can't get it to find anything either in Safari.

A very long wait, then nothing. I'm assuming that it's just timing out.

Too bad, because it has a nice layout - especially the ideas of searching by

country or instrument classification, etc...

Still, thanks for the link Adam. I'll be checking it now and then.

I used the dropdown menus to browse through geopgraphic regions, and had no problems. The single tracks lead to complete albums, if you want to (Buy whole album feature).

$ 0.99 a track .... considering many are very short and an album can have up to 20 tracks ...

I'd prefer a CD on demand option.

I use the latest version of Opera to browse, BTW.

I now used the quick country search function - again, everything works fine. You get whole albums through this feature right away.

Should I cast in another vote for the Opera browser? ;)
