bertrand Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 (edited) This is a free festival in Wilmington, Delaware. I saw that on June 9 (my birthday) both the Ingrid Jensen organ group and Lou Donaldson with Dr. Lonnie Smith are playing (also, there's Louis Hayes' Cannonball tribute band on 6/12). Since it's not too far from DC, I was thinking of taking a road trip with my 5-year old (who's actually met Lou). The website does not give too much info on the set-up, though (www.cliffordbrownjazzfest.com). I'm trying to see at what time the show starts and how long the sets are to see if I need to plan to sleep over or not. Also, I have mixed feelings about some festivals: a lot of clueless people show up and kind of ruin it. Has anyone been to this festival? Do you know if the music is in the afternoon or at night? How crowded does it get? Thanks, Bertrand. Edited April 12, 2005 by bertrand Quote
alankin Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 I don't have info about this year's festival, but you can look at the listing's for last year's fest on my website at http://jazzmatazz.home.att.net/phillyjazz/...lyconcerts.html. (Search for "clifford brown".) Looks like the week night concerts started around 6:30pm. Quote
bertrand Posted April 16, 2005 Author Report Posted April 16, 2005 Their site now has the times. I will most likely be at the 6/9 show, and perhaps also 6/12. Bertrand. Quote
sidewinder Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 This is sort of tempting as I have most of the month of June free on vacation ( B-) ). Just the chance to see the good Doctor and Pop Lou live would be worth the trip. Hmm... Quote
