Peter Johnson
Well, I've been bitten by the scooter bug (impending 1/3-life crisis?), and although I haven't gone and bought anything yet, I'm really jonesing for a noisy, smelly, oil-and-gas-burning, 10-20 year old Vespa. Any tales from the wise? Years to avoid? Things to look for? I know about the new Vespas (Vespae?), and the Stella, but I'd prefer something older, 4-speed, with some miles on it. What have ya got? catesta
Peter, I don't own one, but my dad still has his Vespa from the 70's. I can't remember what model it is, but I know it's the larger one. It's still like new. I don't think it has been used since aroud 1977. I'll check on details and let you know if you're interested.
Soul Stream
Always wanted a Vespa, but of course they are really, really expensive these days...old or new. But they are super cool.

catesta
I'm going to Cali today for my nephew's graduation, so I'll check with my dad as soon as I get back.
jazzbo
I think they're cool too, but I'm forbidden to even think so by my wife, so you didn't hear that from ME, you made it up, right?
tonym
Is it the classic shape you are after Peter? I'm not sure what they retail at over there but you can get a new (old shape) one for about £2000 over here. Are Lambrettas as good, or better? Have you tried eBay? JohnS
I had a Lambretta in my early twenties (we talking 60s here). Lovely little 125cc machine, totally reliable.
