bertrand Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 I just downloaded a version of the Joe Henderson Quartet playing 'Isotope' from iTunes from a compilation entitled Monterey Jazz 1958-1980. Who is playing with Joe, and what's the date? A google search gave me no personnel listing. It sounds like Bobby Hutcherson with bass and drums. Thanks in advance, Bertrand. Quote
brownie Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 JOE HENDERSON QUARTET Isotope Recorded September 17, 1966 Joe Henderson, tenor sax, Elvin Jones, drums, Bobby Hutcherson, vibes, Don Moore, bass. From the PaJ 'Jazz Monterey 1958-1980' twofer. Suffit de demander Quote
bertrand Posted June 20, 2005 Author Report Posted June 20, 2005 (edited) Merci, Guy! That was fast. I post the question, read the other forums, do a refresh and voila! Of course, based on this stellar line-up (I knew that was Hutch, but I didn't think of Elvin), the next obvious questions are: 1. Is there complete set of this concert out? I wonder if they only do 30 minutes like at Newport, or if they are longer sets? I would buy this in a heartbeat. 2. Whatever happened to Don Moore? Thanks, Bertrand. brownie Posted June 20, 2005 Report Posted June 20, 2005 The PaJ twofer had one track each by the following, all recorded at the festivals: - Cannonball Adderley Quintet (1966) - Toots Thielemans (1975) - Woody Herman (1970) - Joe Henderson (1966) - Jon Hendricks (1966) - Jimmy Giuffre Three (1958) - Johnny Griffin (1978) - Buddy Rich and his Orchestra with Dizzy Gillespie (1970) - Clark Terry (1975) - Joe Williams with Prez Conference (1970) - Benny Golson (1975) - Joanne Brackeen Trio (1980) Don Moore seems to still be active in New York: http://www.eastsideswing.com/musicians.html Quote
