Big Wheel Posted July 29, 2005 Report Posted July 29, 2005 Anyone heard these? Basically repackagings of Bethlehem titles. Not planning on buying them right away but the price is right and I was curious how they compared with the previous incarnations of this material. Quote
Bluesnik Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Haven't heard any of these, although I ordered some. Glad someone's reissuing Bethlehems in their original format. AFAIK this reissue label was founded by some former members of the Rhino team. So that should be a guarantee. Plus they're supposed to be remastered, in 24 bit I expect, and use original artwork. So they should be better than those Charly Bethlehems. Maybe I'll post again when I've listened to the Mingus and Porgy & Bess. Quote
AllenLowe Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 nice guys, well meaning (I did some of a blues series for them) but not real adventurous or cutting edge - I would also be nervous as a lot of the older jazz they re-mastered for Rhino was over-procesed and full of audible noise reduction distortion - Quote
BruceH Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 They put out great DVD re-issues, I'll say that for them. Quote
Brad Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Anybody get these yet? Does anybody know why the prior reissuer of Bethlehem (Avenue Jazz or something like that) stopped? Quote
