I've just rekindled my itch for vinyl recently and am tracking down some of the must haves. This is obviously one and my 90's impulse version is pretty grim (it may be from the 80's actually, but it is not in front of me). I know that this came out awhile ago but how is it - should I track down earlier pressings? Most importantly, what tapes were used? Before I plunk down $30, I want to make sure that the compression is limited and that "Pursuance" comes from a similar source as the recent Deluxe Version/SACD. Thanks for any input.

They aren't expensive... check with Dusty Groove (www.dustygroove.com). Their VG+ stereo orange/black or rainbow (black/red) issues run 15-23 usually, and they grade by Goldmine standards.

Edit for currency: These be dollars, not pounds or euros.

The red/black second pressings usually sound pretty damn good and they can be picked up for very reasonable sums. My first copy was a UK mid-70s pressing done by (I think) EMI, who had access to very good tape masters. That may be my best copy. I think this particular tape source was also for the recent 2CD 'complete' set.
