Jay Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 I've just rekindled my itch for vinyl recently and am tracking down some of the must haves. This is obviously one and my 90's impulse version is pretty grim (it may be from the 80's actually, but it is not in front of me). I know that this came out awhile ago but how is it - should I track down earlier pressings? Most importantly, what tapes were used? Before I plunk down $30, I want to make sure that the compression is limited and that "Pursuance" comes from a similar source as the recent Deluxe Version/SACD. Thanks for any input. Quote
wolff Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 (edited) I'd contact Speaker's Corner or Kevin Gray at RTI for some of your questions. Edited August 28, 2005 by wolff Quote

Jay Posted August 29, 2005 Author Report Posted August 29, 2005 Got a line on one for a reasonable price? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 (edited) They aren't expensive... check with Dusty Groove (www.dustygroove.com). Their VG+ stereo orange/black or rainbow (black/red) issues run 15-23 usually, and they grade by Goldmine standards. Edit for currency: These be dollars, not pounds or euros. sidewinder Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 The red/black second pressings usually sound pretty damn good and they can be picked up for very reasonable sums. My first copy was a UK mid-70s pressing done by (I think) EMI, who had access to very good tape masters. That may be my best copy. I think this particular tape source was also for the recent 2CD 'complete' set. Quote
