John L Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) Well, I picked up Denmark vol. 1&2 and am EXTREMELY happy about it, to say the least. My initial confusion about the date stems from the fact that this store also has two other Moon discs called "Rollins Meets Cherry" that contain European concerts from 1963. How do those stand up? Thanks. John Edited September 6, 2005 by John L Quote
JSngry Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Horrendous sound, incredible music. Makes Our Man In Jazz sound like the Reader's Digest version of Ulysses. But the recording quality is rough. There's a third volume of stuff from the same tour on Magnetic, in supposedly excellent sound, but I've not yet been able to get a hookup on it. Something to live for, I suppose... Quote

His playing alone on the 25 minute track "Oleo" is stupendous and I haven't heard anything in the bootleg recordings of Rollins with Cherry that compares to it. Quote
JSngry Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Oh, I'm definitely not denigrating Our Man In Jazz. Great album. I'm just comparing it to those 63 boots. Quote
