Hi everyone!!

In addition to starting a brand new job a couple weeks ago (more on that later), and taking on some major time-intensive leadership responsibilities in another volunteer organization a couple months ago (more on that later), my wife and I are starting a brand new intergenerational hand-bell choir in our church!! We had our very first rehearsal last week, and today we are prepping for this week's rehearsal, which is in a couple days (Wednesday).

Anyone have any good suggestions for a quick, on-line “one-page” resource for general music notation?? Something for beginners. You know, something I could print out, and give to the folks in our bell-choir who don't read music -- which is almost everyone in the group (yikes!!). The good thing is that hand-bells don't require you to read every note on the page -- just your assigned notes (which is usually just two notes in the scale, plus their associated accidentals -- so usually just three or four bells (notes) total, per person).

The group will probably be about 15-20 ringers, including about 5 kids (roughly ages 9-13). The kids don’t know how to ring, but neither do their parents (who are also playing in the group) – so the playing ground is pretty much level for everyone.

After we play some very simple Christmas music in December, I’m looking at trying to arrange some music that one probably never hears on hand-bells, like maybe some Monk(!), and even Jimi Hendrix’ "Little Wing"(!!!). Did I mention that the hand-bell choir is in a Unitarian church?? My theory is that we can play anything on hand-bells, and it’ll sound “churchy”. :)

Actually Giant Steps wouldn't be that hard to pull off (without soloists, of course)

How about Donna Lee? Quicksilver? Freedom Jazz Dance?

That's great Rooster! It always helps if you can get a couple ringers in the group. :g
